Great magazine October 10, 2003 141 out of 142 found this review helpful
I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 41/2 year old, they both love the magazine. It has characters that the kids know and are interested in. Lots of activities. My daughter went through the entire magazine in the first sitting and continues to go through it. The activities are right on target and don't frustrate her. I went to the bookstore and looked at all the magazines before I got a subscription. Some of the other mags have too many advertisements and are pushing their products. This has no advertisement pages in it. I liked the fact that it had activities that both kids were interested in doing. Counting and colors for 2 year old and writing and thinking skills for 4 year old. Highly reccommend. But, if you are looking for a subscription for your child, buy a few different single magazines for them to look at and see what they are interested in. You don't want to waste money on a mag they don't want. I was very happy with this one.
appropriate for 2 year olds and up February 24, 2003 KNSudha (Saratoga, CA USA) 121 out of 124 found this review helpful
Unlike Nick Jr magazine, this is not full of ads, and the content is pretty much accessible to 2 yr old and up preschoolers with some activities that even 24 mo and up can attempt such as counting out / identifying all of the red toys etc. The stories included are also really sweet, about familiar characters and not too long hold my now 2 1/2 year old sons interest
Subscription problem September 29, 2003 Practical shopper 45 out of 55 found this review helpful
I ordered this magazine and never received it. I wrote to Amazon subscriptions and got an auto-reply. Still no magazine. Several months later, I finally recieved one copy. A big waste of money, but spending more time trying to get satisfaction probably wasting more time. Something is broken either with Amazon or with the magazine senders. Makes me hesitant to order magazines through Amazon. Magazine wasn't that clever - more like promotion of a select set of merchandizing characters.
Good short stories and activities April 2, 2004 42 out of 45 found this review helpful
This magazine is expensive, but each issue contains several stories, activities like mazes, finding hidden items, and basic colors and counting. My son does not watch TV (his choice), but he likes the characters in this magazine, who are all friendly and likable to him.I also recommend subscribing to the mediocre Parenting magazine, only because it includes an issue of Sesame Street magazine with every subscription-issue. Sesame Street magazine is better than Preschool Playroom because it has a much broader selection of information (includes animals, geography, and multi-cultural lessons) presented in a style that preschoolers enjoy. Just leave the Parenting magazine in the waiting room at the pediatrician's office.
superb October 4, 2005 apoem (Bosque Farms, NM USA) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
This is not full of ads although it is full of tv characters and that in and of itself is an ad. However, it is educational with cute activities that are easily appropriate for ages 2 and up. There are short stories, matching pictures, what's wrong pictures, what's different pictures, poems etc. It is filled with bright colors and parental tips on how to use this magazine to teach. I was very impressed with this magazine and would renew the subscription to it. Well worth the money. Enjoy.
