Jesse Cook Frontiers July 20, 2007 Daniel B. Hipps, DDS (Nashville, TN) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I've been anticipating the release of this album for some time since I am a huge Jesse Cook fan and this new master-piece does not disappoint. The feel of the album is very different compared to previous releases but I find myself lost in a new intrigue of musical passion as I enjoy the energetic tempo of songs like, "Matisse the Cat" and "Havana". Melissa McClelland's rich voice aligns beautifully with a brilliant arrangement of Bob Dylan's, "It Ain't Me Babe". I found several songs, such as "Turning" and "Europa" very ethereal and magical. If you are a Jesse Cook fan or just love the sound of a beautiful guitar, this CD is a must!
Acceptable Not Impressive. July 25, 2007 Jaber Usamah Alkazemi (Kuwait City, Kuwait.) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
After listening to the whole album more than 5 times, I have found it to be acceptable not impressive. On the positive side, this album has the same shade as the first two released by Mr. Cook. I personally liked Rain, Europa, and Alone (3 out of 13). On the other side, this album contradicts its title "frontiers". No limists were pushed on this album, It should been properly titled "back home".
a dfiferent side of Jesse Cook October 5, 2007 Donna Baumann (CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Different than his other CDs, more introspective, more feeling. A good range from the very upbeat "Matisse the Cat" the smooth "Cafe Mocha", the driving beat of "Havana" to the most tender feeling guitar solo I have ever heard, "Alone" which I could listen to endlessly. But that's the quality that describes Jesse's music, you can never get enough.

This is an amazing album, the one you expect from a well developed artist like Jesse Cook. The first five pieces are astonishing, but above all "rain" is simply a blue marvel. If youre looking for a new fresh flamenco music take it.
