Amazon.com The nouveau Orange County, California, punk legacy kick-starts the soundtrack to Jake Kasdan's updated teen-hell comedy. The Offspring's newly recorded "Defy You" energetically explores their roots, and Social Distortion offer a live version of their trademark "Story of My Life." But that OC focus quickly gives way to a broad, buoyant collection of punk and hip-hop-inflected pop that includes a Green Day-ish new track by Foo Fighters ("The One") and equally hooky cuts by Cake, Lit, Bad Ronald, Quarashi, and Crazy Town. The album's emotional and musical shadings come courtesy of Pete Yorn's subdued "Lose You," the acoustic "Under the Tracks" by Creeper Lagoon, and Phantom Planet's anthemic "California," as well as a welcome pair of tracks ("Lay Down Burden," "Love and Mercy") by original SoCal Sound legend Brian Wilson. First pressings of the album also include a four-track bonus disc with songs by Zebrahead (the appropriate "O.C. Life"), Ill Kidd, the Ataris, and Riddlin' Kids. --Jerry McCulley

15th TRACK! January 25, 2002 Kevin J. Daigle (Addis, LA) 31 out of 32 found this review helpful
Like many others, I bought this CD because of The Offspring & Foo Fighters, but this CD has a lot of great songs. Some of my favorite tracks include: 12 Rods' "Glad That It's Over", Bad Ronald's "1st Time" and Phantom Planet's "California". I have written this review to let everyone know about the unlisted 15th track. Just so eveyone knows. it is NOT a hidden track. The song is called "Hello". It is performed by a band called SUGARBOMB. I know this because I stayed during the closing credits of the Orange County movie with my note pad and pen in hand. Just thought everyone would be interested.
some great, some good, and some..... December 20, 2001 mex guy (mexico) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
the soundtrack in general is good. It has great tunes and it has some others that with 1 listen it's enough. This is mostly a rock album,, but it also includes some good slow tunes by pete yorn (a great one), creeper lagoon, and cake (another great one)The rock songs are great, especially lit's "everything's cool", social distorsion's, foo figthers' and the bad ronald (not rock)... I haven't heard the bonus cd completely, but it sounds good... If you like the offspring's "defy you" and foo figthers' "the one", maybe you'll like the whole cd...
track 15 of orange county soundtrack August 21, 2003 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
The title of track 15 is "Hello" and it is by Sugarbomb. It is definitely the best song on the CD and simply in general, although I do love the entire CD. Buy it if you haven't already, and for everyone else who was confused about the title of the hidden track, spread the word! Ciao*
Bonus track June 20, 2002 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
So you know, the Bonus track is actually a song called "Hello" by Sugarbomb-an awesome band from Ft. Worth, Texas. I hope you'll check out their other songs now that you know who they are!
ORANGE COUNTY KICKED 'butt'!!! January 14, 2002 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I just saw the movie, 'Orange County' two days ago on opening night and I heard that the soundtrack kicked 'butt' but as I sat through the movie hearing all these completely kick'butt' songs I decided to buy the amazing soundtrack otherwise I would just die. The CD has awesome songs besides the main titles of 'The One' by the Foo Fighters and so on and so forth. This CD is actually one of those where you don't have to say 'Sorry, let me change that' when you're listening to it in the car with friends and a HORRIBLE MISTAKE of a song comes on. With the ORange County soundtrack it's different, I loved every SINGLE song and I also got tuned in to new bands that kick 'butt'! Go out and get this CD now!
