| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description Here is the music that has shaped the resurgence of Paganism in the U.S. through the late 20th and early 21st centuries. A virtual "Greatest Hits" of Pagan music, it includes the work of some of our finest bards, poets and musicians. These songs tell our history, and also chart the evolution of our thought and belief. Exclusive tracks include the long-lost original "Burning Times" recording and several other rare musical gems. It's all here: the musical styles that influence us most, the folk wisdom and sacred story that touches our hearts, the ideals that stir our passions. Extensive liner notes give the story behind each track, a mini-field guide to the beauty and humanity of Pagan song.

groovy collection December 12, 2005 Monarch (San Fran Bay area, California) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I wasn't sure what exactly to expect when I ordered this, since there are no samplers, but I was pleasantly surprised. I decided to order it when I kept seeing it at all the websites I was shopping at. It's not really what I'd want for doing ritual to, but it's a nice alternative to the radio in the car, and to just listen to while doing busy stuff at home. I like that it introduced a variety of artists for me to look into further.
For those of the Pagan persuasion, an excellent buy! October 7, 2005 KestreLinden (Northeast TN, USA) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
If you consider yourself of the Pagan persuasion and you don't yet own most of these tracks on another album, I highly recommend "The Best of Pagan Song." It's especially a good bargain for your buck considering all the various artists that are included, not to mention that some of these recordings are rather difficult to find anywhere else now. Many of these songs are absolute classics and thoroughly inspirational. They touch and move the Pagan Soul deeply. My many favorites include: The Burning Times, The Heretic Heart, We Won't Wait Any Longer, We Do Not Die, Rime of the Ancient Matriarch, and The Christians and the Pagans. The sound quality is true to any of the original releases that I have heard myself. The musical stylings are mostly folk and renn faire fare, although some tracks are a bit more modern in style. All in all, an energizing and joyous album, one that is especially great as house cleaning music! =)
Great collection for pagan soul March 20, 2006 debhuishmac 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This CD is a collection of all types of music from tunes that stay in your head ("We won't wait any longer" and "Lord of the Dance") to the haunting "Spirits". The CD is worth the cost just for "The Burning Times" and the "Christians and Pagans". I give the CD 4 stars because some of the songs just didn't quite click for me- but that is the joy of paganism, the variety. So, buy the CD, you will probably find a good portion of the tunes are pleasurable, and some may just stay with you forever.
Excellent for those on the Path May 14, 2005 L. Reyes (Deerfield Beach, FL USA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Not all of these tracks are great but Dar Williams definitely ranks #1. If you're following the Path of the Wise, check out this CD.
A Magical Journey Through the Tapestry of Pagan Music History August 26, 2006 Christopher H. Merrell (Denver, Colorado United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Upon listening to this CD; I fell in love with many of the tracks. My favorite being We Do Not Die. There are many tracks on this CD that give the listener a very interesting survey of the diverse nature of the evolving nature of Pagan/Wiccan music. Many of the selections have most likely been used by individuals as well as groups to enhance their own ritual experience. I truly thank the many artist who are represented on this CD for having put musically the multitude of expressions it is to be Pagan. Christopher H. Merrell
