good Christian album May 6, 2008 Amy E. Barker (Virginia) 6 out of 12 found this review helpful
I wasn't a fan of Chris Sligh while he was on Idol during season 6. After that season was over, I came across some music he had done with his band, Half Past Forever. I liked what I heard. Good pop/rock tunes with Christian lyrics. Well, Running Back To You is Chris Sligh's first solo album post-Idol. It continues with the Christian theme from his band's album. The songs are well-written and have good production.
Great CD May 13, 2008 Betty Bryant (Hitchcock, TX United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this CD out of curiosity but I am thrilled with the music. Chris Sligh is immensely talented. He wrote all the songs on this CD. I don't think American Idol did him justice. His voice is strong and the arrangements are great. My personal favorite on the CD is "In a Moment". I think it could be a crossover hit for him. I hope to hear more from Chris. I would like to see him do a secular album also. He can really sing.
SOLID BREAKOUT CD FROM THE SLIGH GUY May 14, 2008 Christopher Nickels (Mount Pleasant, South Carolina United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a nicely produced and packaged CD that shows off Chris' voice, writing and arrangements. The CD makes a great gift for anyone aged 10 to 70! I just saw Chris and his touring band in concert, After two-hours, I was exhausted just having heard him pour out his heart in virtually every tune he sang. . .this new release should put Chris into the spotlight. . .please support Chris by buying this CD.
A Home Run From Chris! May 15, 2008 Rosalee (Westbury, NY USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Chris Sligh's debut album as a solo artist is a highly polished work that showcases his strong, rich voice and amazing songwriting talents. It presents "two sides of Sligh" - (although a Christian album, approximately half of the songs could be considered to be mainstream). He writes from the heart and sings from his soul. The songs, ranging from ballads to up-tempo numbers truly demonstrate his versatility as an artist. The handful of songs brought over from his album with his old band, Half Past Forever, have been rearranged. It is hard for me to pick a favorite song. "In a Moment" has the potential to become a classic wedding song. "Empty Me" is a very powerful song, currently climbing the Christian music charts. "Potential" is a sweet song, as is "Vessel", which is the perfect song to close out the album. The songs, often fully orchestrated and seeped in layers of sound on this record, may be performed live by Chris in a simple, acoustic arrangement, or he may rock out with his touring band. For example, "Loaded Gun", which has an edgy, "Eleanor Rigby-like" quality to it on the CD, was given the rocker treatment when performed live. Chris always gives his all in his performances, whether for a recording or live. In short, this is another remarkable album from a remarkable man.
