clear, beautiful and relaxing sounds of nature October 10, 1998 67 out of 67 found this review helpful
This disc contains seven tracks of natural sounds of the wild for a total of 46 minutes of delicate listening. The only non-bird sounds are surf, rain, wind and a babbling stream. The recordings are remarkably clear. I bought this to soothe my children at naptime and bedtime---and it works! They request it now. If you're looking for pure nature sounds, I can recommend the Echoes of Nature series.
Uneven in places January 27, 2003 Sailoil (Dublin Ireland) 33 out of 36 found this review helpful
I bought this CD as background for meditation. I have many positive things to say about it. The birdsong and water sounds are relaxing. Because there are discreet timed tracks, it gives you the option to select a track for the time you want to meditate, and then you know when to come out as the track ends. However, the sound quality is uneven, and as a result is not natural sounding. For instance, the first track opens with pounding surf and no birds. Then the surf sound fades to nothing and the bird song is brought up. So it sounds very managed instead of being natural. Also, the "ocean birds" sound pretty strange to me. Not what I am used to. Maybe pacific ocean birds sound different to the Atlantic ones I am used to , but I doubt it. One of the tracks has a waterfall that sounds a bit bathwater-ish and the rainfall sounds a bit like static hiss at the beginning. But despite the mixed quality it is a relaxing set of recordings. And it's hard to go wrong at this price.
Very soothing April 15, 2000 J. Wright (Indianapolis) 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
You can't get much better than this... I played this at home, and my dad thought I had a window open. The different tracks blend together very well; you won't notice the transitions. It's very soothing, except for the occasional woodpecker, which I found very charming.
Serenity upon waking OR going to sleep! October 12, 2003 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
If you love the sound of birds, this is IT! Happy, serene, relaxing, but it won't put you to back to sleep in the morning! As a bonus, it's fun to watch my two cats hunting around the room for the birds they hear! No music, which makes this exactly what I was looking for.
Not just for the birds - but they like it too! June 2, 2001 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I have this CD, and it is wonderful. In fact, the entire set is an auditory journey through natural history. It starts out with the sounds of rolling surf and seagulls. While your ears listen, your mind whisks you away to pristine forests, rushing mountain streams and clear summer beaches. You can almost smell the sea spray and feel the dew on the fern fronds. It ends with the melancholy cooing of the mourning dove. This seems to be the most appropriate bird song for the end of this soulful and enchanting CD.I keep finches, and I play this CD for them practially everyday. I call it their "birdie music". They enjoy it every time I play it and become quite excited at the first sounds of the ocean. The recording is so clear that my finches can never seem to tell if the birds are inside the house or outside beyond the windows. They even call back to the CD. The most interesting thing about this response is that all of my finches are from either Australia or Africa yet they respond to North American Cardinals. If you are looking to relax, this is the CD for you.
