TROUBLE! July 28, 2007 Ryan T. Ricci (North Carolina) 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
This phone did not work as advertised. I did a lot of research on 6.0 DECT and what it was all about. What I have found in my use of the phone is that it has an interference problem. I have major static with both handsets and both are not even close to any other electronic appliance. This phone advertises High-Def voice clarity and does not deliver.
I want to get rid of this phone!!! November 7, 2007 Souprqt (Maine) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
We bought the Philips dect phone with high expectations and it doesn't meet any of them! The range on the phone is minimal and it cuts out all the time. I thought that dect phones had a better range than the 1.2 Ghz phones but apparently not this one. The phone feels flimsy in your hand and the buttons cheap. We haven't figured out why the call-waiting doesn't beep when there is someone on the other line. Sometimes the phone pulses during the dial tone to let you know there is a voicemail, only to find out after dialing voicemail that there is no message. I don't recommend this phone at all.
Take reviews with a grain of salt April 22, 2008 Reviewer (TX) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
First of all, this phone is certainly not the worst phone ever. It could be improved. But overall this is the best cordless I have had in the past 5 years. I have had several Vtech phones (batteries only lasted a few months, similar to the GE phone), a GE phone(the battery only lasted 2 months before I could only stay on the phone for 20 minutes), a Panasonic (insanely low volume and the range was only about 30 ft). Yes, the shape of this phone is a problem if you want to hold it with your head on your shoulder, but I don't do that anyway, I have a head set. I have no problem with the volume of this phone, in fact it is much better than most phones I have had. If it's not loud enough for your taste the speaker phone works very well. Programming the phone is somewhat of a challenge. Phillips could have made it much easier. And even viewing the Caller ID can be bothersome sometimes, but not always. To view who is calling when the phone is ringing is not a problem, but to see who called after it stops ringing involves too many steps(push the cid/up button then push menu/ok) and the way the phone displays the name and number makes no sense to me(sometimes the phone will display "wireless cal" then on the second line the date and time but there is no way to see the phone number). The buttons on the phone have a slight delay when you push them and they feel soft, but it is not hard to get used. I have not experienced any static with this phone. My favorite part of this phone, other than the price, is the batteries. They are 4 AAA rechargeable batteries and they really do hold a charge. I have had no problem talking on the phone for several hours at a time almost every day for the past month and a half. If that changes over the next month or so I will update this review. I have walked outside of my house and halfway down the block with this phone during a conversation and it did not cut out or have any problems. I am giving this phone 5 stars despite the few flaws because it is just so much better than all the other phones I have had. If Phillips fixes this phone's flaws on the next model it will be the best phone ever. Bottom line, if you just want a phone that works, and don't mind a few eccentricities, buy this phone. If you want a phone that will only last a couple of months, buy something else.
VoIP friendly!! January 4, 2008 J. Harsen (ny, ny) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
After 5 hellish years with VoIP telephony static, cut outs and the rest, I cannot tell you how AMAZING it is to have a conversation where I do not have a disconnect, static or other challenges to contend with. Yes, in many ways using the features in the beginning reminds me of early DOS menu challenges, and it took at least a week to fully appreciate all the features available to us. HOWEVER, now that we've begun to use the features more we are upgrading our entire house with these phones --- if you have not been using a VoIP modem perhaps you do not fully appreciate the peace of mind that DECT technology affords people like me, but if you have suffered with electronic interferences, this phone will be liberating. This system merits a "4" out of "5" only due to the initial learning curve associated with the buttons and programming functions. Although it seems simple enough to learn, I suppose there are users who will find new technology difficult to master - thereby lessening its' overall appeal. A strong, well built solution for tech-using households.
Buyer Beware! December 18, 2007 R. C. Saltzman (New York, NY United States) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Do not buy this phone!!! The volume is not loud enough, you will constantly be trying to increase it it! There is a major static problem. The buttons are difficult to push, sort of a delayed response. Saving a phone number takes several steps. Getting to Caller ID is easy but once you are there it is difficult to scroll through (sensitivity issue of the round button) and it doesn't show the number, just the name of the caller while you are checking the log not when the call is coming through, then it shows name and number. The ring tones are limited and irritating! There is no speaker phone on the base. It is ver light weight and feels cheap and is short so it is difficult to balance on your shoulder. Do I really need to go on? If you buy this phone be prepaired to wait online at the post office to return it!
