Amazon.com Product Description It wasn't that long ago when I heard about the very first laser level, and now the market is flooded with dozens of different models. However, despite the widespread proliferation of these tools, few can compete with the features, versatility and price of the new Black & Decker BullsEye BDL500S. This sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, electronic device is actually two tools in one: First, it's a bright-light laser level that projects both horizontal and vertical lines. It's equipped with an auto-leveling feature that permits quick setup without sacrificing accuracy. The lasers are accurate within 1/8 inch over 20 feet. Second, the BDL500S is a digital measurer that lets you quickly and accurately measure distances up to 999 feet! Simply roll the tool across a wall, floor, ceiling or other flat surface, and the measurement is automatically displayed on the LCD screen. It's also equipped with a really cool feature alled AccuSpace, which allows you to electronically measure a wall, and punch in the number of pictures you want to hang. The tool then automatically divides the distance and tells how far apart to hang the pictures for equal spacing in between. The BDL500S is nearly 11 inches tall and weighs about two pounds. Use it to hang framed photos, paintings and other wall-mounted objects, and to precisely align floorboards, ceramic tile and suspended-ceiling grids. The tool comes with a protective storage case and two AA-size batteries. -- Joseph Truini

UPDATE-----Terribly inaccurate January 6, 2006 M. Gordon (SLC, UT) 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
Update***** I exchanged it and found that my new one is much more accurate. It is only about 1/16 inch off at 16'. I am very happy with this one. Once again, I reccomend checking it. I bought this last night to mark a small room for chair rail. I started at one point and went around the room in both directions from the starting point. By the time my two lines met, I was almost an inch off. The room is not even 10' by 10'. After playing with it for awhile, I discovered that at 10' I was approx 3/8" off. The spec says +/- 1/8" off at 10'. Maybe I got a bad one, I intend to exchange it and try again. Bottom line is if you get one, check it. One simple way is to hold it on a wall, mark it approximately 10' down, then turn the device around and hold it's face up to the wall and check the line again at 10'. The marks should be no more than 1/4" apart worst case. Even with this kind of innacuracy, it can still be useful for some jobs. Like I said, I intend to exchange it and see if I can get a good one.
Easy to use time saving laser level! January 9, 2007 D. V. Nguyen (Portland, OR USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This thing is great! Easy to use. Saves time hanging up pictures and making sure things are levelled. The digital tape measure works well and so does the picture hanging tool. You measure the wall length and select how many pictures you want and it will beep wherever the nail needs to go. Great tool!
Good little level February 4, 2007 Concerned One (Clarinda, IA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I recieved this as a gift at christmas, and so far, it works pretty darn well. Small nail in the wall and let it draw a nice level line to hang things by. I am shortly going to be putting shelves in a closet, and this will be very handy. I also have a craftsman laser leve, and it works well too, but does not have the hanging feature. A plus. The rolling measure is likely not going to replace my manual tape measurer, but in a pinch, can help. Overall, good product, check it out if you do a lot of hanging.
Excellent gadget February 14, 2006 Aiman Ali Nassar (Cairo, Egypt) 4 out of 15 found this review helpful
I've just received this one, didn't actually do a real test (will do one very soon) but intially, the laser level, the auto leveling and the accuracy is quite impressive, compared to many returned ones. I just think it is quite big. I didn't really expect the real size. But still very usefull, and I have three of my freinds want to buy similar ones. they work in the Decor business.
BDL500S Auto level January 19, 2007 J. Gwinn (San Diego) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Great product. A must for hanging large pictures that require 2 level hangers, quite a distance apart. The self leveling feature far exceeds the bubble type of level that requires human input. The distance measuring function may have some use at a later time. A practice run on an existing wall seems to indicate it will work very well. Highly recommended.
