Product Description Includes 1 HP 650 CFM Dust Collector - 708640.
Amazon.com Review Unveil this secret weapon with the flick of a switch and establish a strong beachhead against dust in your home or shop. Powered by a 1-horsepower, 115-volt induction motor, Jet's 650 cfm dust collector comes with 2.67-cubic-foot bags that grab particles 30 microns and larger. The 9-3/4-inch steel blower wheel is stout enough to handle larger particle-producing applications. The entire unit sits conveniently on easy-to-roll casters, so moving it around the shop is no problem. A unique feature separating Jet's dust collectors from the competition is how easily the lower bag can be removed and reattached. There's a handy flexible metal band that snaps quickly into place--which is a hundred times easier than wrestling with cinch straps. The machine stands only 66 inches tall and is ideal for small shops. There's only one dust port; you have to set up to larger models for two ports. A great carpenter once referred to sawdust as "the indomitable scourge silently mounting in woodshops nationwide." Well, now there's something you can do about it. --Justin Paul

works well... August 3, 2008 jack mehoff (biteme afghanistan) but the dust collector is a funny thing. I had been using a 16 gallon shop vac to capture dust on my surface planer. It actually worked pretty well. It never clogged, but the downside was you blew through bags like it's no tomorrow. And quite frankly, they're sort of pricey when you blow through two a day on a project. I'd been debating buying this collector for weeks, as I was pretty sure the amount I'd save in shopvac bags would pay for it within a year (or likley less), I was thrown initially by the 1HP on this machine, compared to the 6HP on the shopvac, but then realized the 6HP was the 'peak' HP, not the running rating. I also looked up the CFM numbers on both (185 for the shopvac, 650 for this machine), and was sold. When I first fired it up, it clearly pulled more air through, but since it's a larger pipe, the pressure is less. When I put it on the planer, I noticed that it actually got clogged up on longer pieces (longer being 6"x20" soft maple). They put a very large grid (I'm guessing to keep chunks of wood from killing the blades) directly in front of the inlet. The sawdust would come through to fast, and clog the machine here. At first I'd used clamps to clamp the hose down, but in the end I got rid of the clamps, kept a close eye on it, and pulled the hose off (with the machine still running. Be careful here, to not lose a finger... I'm sure I'm not using the thing as intended by doing this) and broke the blockage up. In the end, there's about the same or more mess as before, but dust is easy to clean up. The bag is of course just a change. In the end, I think it was sort of a push... The machine doesn't really work as well as the shopvac, but then again you aren't buying bags... I gave it a four, because the machine itself performs flawlessly, easy to assemble, well built... I can't imagine how you'd make it 'better', without making it a shopvac, which is a completely different machine.

I purchased this product after reading the various online reviews. And have not been dissapointed. It is for occasional use in my garage and the 1HP works efficiently. It was extremely easy to assemble and hook-up. Needed to get reducers to attach the 4" hose to my saw table and router.
Quiet and Effective April 6, 2007 Jayme Johnson (Little Falls, MN USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using this dust collector for about a month in a home wood shop and have been most pleased with it. I appreciate how quiet it is in comparison to the Craftsman shop vacuum used previously with my table saw. It also requires much less maintenence by way of cleaning out of filters, etc. I have connected the 2 1/4" shop vacuum hose to the Jet dust collector's 10 foot hose with an adaptor and it serves as a quiet shop vac for nearly my entire 24' X 11' shop as well as an effective table saw dust collector. The adapted system also allows connection to the band saw and belt sander.

Great Dust Collector for the Small Shop September 1, 2006 J. M. Austin (Buffalo, NY USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have had the DC-650 for 5 years now, and have been consistently pleased. Its performance has been flawless, and works as well today as it did when I first plugged it in. This machine will handle even the high-output equipment like jointers, table saws, and shapers. But...it handles well only one machine at a time. If there are two of you in the shop, each using a machine, you'll want a bigger dust collector than this one. For the one-man show, this dust collector is perfect! One suggestion: add a Dust Collection Seperator (Rockler part #27351).
