Amazon.com Product Description The Bully cordless lawn mower is ideal for smaller city and suburban lawns. This mower runs quietly and is easy to push at just 36 pounds, while providing the strength of the hi-output 12-volt motor and hi-performance battery. The battery provides approximately 40 minutes of mowing time on a single charge; it plugs in easily to recharge and can be compactly stored in cabinets at least 14 inches tall with the handle folded down. This lawn mower is built with a 16-inch cutting deck, fully adjustable cutting height from 1/2 to 3-1/2 inches, and a padded handle for added comfort. This product comes fully assembled and is backed by a 2-year warranty.

The jury is still out... April 23, 2006 Meg Spencer 49 out of 53 found this review helpful
I've only had my Bully lawn mower for a week now, and am still trying decide whether or not it was a wise purchase. I've already had several plastic bits & pieces fall off after only cutting my grass one and half times, and have had to scour the lawn trying to find them. The most recent piece that fell off held the handle together, which made for an awkward cutting of the grass. I am REALLY hoping Bully is telling the truth about how the battery builds up power after multiple chargings, as right now I am barely able to get my small front yard cut before the battery dies. I also think it doesn't have the power to cut some of the thicker grass in my back yard. I probably wouldn't recommend it, at least not so far, which bums me out as I really liked the idea of not using GAS to power a lawn mower...
Now that I have used the mower for over a month . . . . . . May 5, 2006 Charles E. Gribble (Minneapolis, MN United States) 42 out of 51 found this review helpful
The Bully is a wimp. This is a 12 volt machine with a lightweight cutting blade. The mower loses power readily when encountering any resistence which forces me to set the cutting height higher than I want. This, in turn, requires me to mow the grass more often than I want. There is no way this machine retains its cutting power for as much as the advertised forty minutes or so. About half that is more like it. For comparison, my neighbors have an old Black and Decker 12 volt cordless mower (one of the first made), and it will cut circles around my Bully. The environmental pluses of the Bully seem compromised by the performance minuses, to put it kindly. Any user of this machine will have to give MUCH ATTENTION to keeping the blade sharp to compensate for its reduced size.
Just what I Needed. May 31, 2006 R. Catania (Whiting, IN USA) 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
I recently purchased a BULLY Cordless Lawn Mower from OMY Inc. (omygarden.com) All I knew is that I wanted something lightweight, cordless, and something that did not use gasoline. I read the specs of several mowers available from various manufacturers and the BULLY seemed to be what I was looking for. The Lawn Mower arrived before the estimated shipping date and fully assembled. I followed the instructions and charged the battery 24 hours before use. When I did use it, it cut my 2400 square feet of lawn with no problem and it had power to spare. The lawn mower is smaller than most of the other conventional sized mowers, and because of its' smaller size, it gave me the flexibility in getting into some of the tight areas around my property where I was never able to reach before with my 21" mowers. All'n all I like this mower. It is what I was looking for, and was pleased to see the safety features incorporated within it which would make it difficult for a child to accidentally turn the mower on. The price is roughly $200 less than most of the other battery powered mowers; then again most of the others are larger, and heavier. Construction wise; it doesn't seem to be built any worse than other mowers sold by other manufacturers. My advice to people before they purchase any mower: Read the specs of the various products available so you are sure the mower you are about to purchase is indeed what you need. This one has met my needs.
Light-weight, Fume-free, Quiet & Economical June 28, 2006 trevstonlongworth (Boston, MA) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I had been using a nice reel mower (Sunlawn MM-1) on my 0.2 acre plot on the north shore of Massachusetts. But with all of the rain we have been getting, my grass has been growing very quickly and very thickly. I needed a powered mower. I knew I wanted a cordless electric mower because I hate the noise and fumes of a gas-powered one. I had heard mixed reviews of the Black&Decker 19" cordless and was considering it, but weight and cost made me choose the Bully. The Black&Decker weighs in at 76 pounds. I weigh about 30 pounds more than it, so moving that around would have been a problem! I was also cringing at the thought of spending another [...] on a mower after having bought the Sunlawn [...]. The Bully weighs 36 pounds and at around [...], it met my requirements. Also, Bully replacement batteries are ~[...], unlike the >[...] cost for B&D batteries. I have been enjoying using the Bully and the pros outweigh the cons. Pros: 1.) It is relatively quiet. It sounds like my Bissell vacuum cleaner. 2.) The battery does seem to improve with each charge. 3.) It cuts really tall grass well. Just make sure the grass is not too wet and clumped or the mower will stall. 4.) There were some good recommendations on the reviews here for adjusting the wheel height (i.e. using WD-40 before adjusting the wheel height and raising the height for the front wheels and lowering them for the back wheels). Thank you for those helpful comments! Cons: 1.) Yes, the hubcaps fell off right away, but the wheels stayed on. I'm fine with that. The cover also opened while I drove the mower over the bumpier sections of my yard, but I could re-tape it shut. 2.) I don't think you will have a problem with the handles falling apart unless you FORGET to tighten the screws after loosening them to fold the collapsible handle. My handles have stayed on tightly. 3.) I wish it did have a bit more power, but it is doing the job well for [...] Bottom-line: Yes, I recommend this mower for those who need a light-weight, fume-free, fairly quiet, economical model. Just do not expect the same kind of power and performance as a gas-powered model. I honestly think it is worth it for your own health and for the environment.
Just right for my needs April 5, 2006 Wayne Steiger 16 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have a small lawn on a city lot and no garage. So I looked for a lightweight power mower that I could store in the basement and that I could carry up the stairway without straining myself. A gas mower was out of the question because of the obvious fire hazard indoors. What I found is that there are not a lot of options. The Bully is less than half the weight of the other battery operated mowers, yet it does everything you need a mower to do. It runs for over a half hour which is more time than I need. There's no need for extension cords. It's about as loud as a vacuum cleaner so I can mow most anytime I want. And I love the fold up handle, which allows me to store it completely out of the way. It also arrives fully assembled, another bonus of the folding handle design. I guess the trade off for the light weight and smaller size is that it's not quite as powerful as some mowers. The Bully has one heavy deep cell battery; the others mostly have two; hence the weight difference. Just keep up with regular mowings because it probably won't cut through a yard full of thick long grass, like a gas mower will. Be sure to charge it for at least a full 24 hours before your first mowing. After that, you can keep it plugged in between mowings. I noticed that it holds a charge better and has more power after it charges a few times. So if you think it's a little sluggish the first time you use it, remember that it does get better. I hope this helps a little in your decision making. I looked at all of the cordless mowers, and this one is the best deal on a mower for small lots. WS
