Enjoy not having a gas-powered mower August 11, 2008 A. Pickering (Land O Lakes, FL) While the cord takes some getting used to and because of the narrower width of the deck it does takes me a bit longer to do my lawn. The joy of not giving any more money to greedy oil people and the lightweightness and the no-pulling to restart makes me glad I purchased this mower. I love the ease of changing deck height and the overall cut is nice. I am a small woman and mowing St. Augustine on a hill is impossible for me without self-propel, but not with my lightweight mower!!!! I can even pick up the kids slide and push the mower under it with one hand. Quite satisfied.
Corded Remington 17" Electric Mower June 16, 2008 Cathryn L. Martin (Cincinnati, OH United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would have given this item 5 stars if it had been it's "big brother" - the cordless, battery version of the Remington mower. I purchased a B&D battery powered mower in 1994 and loved it. Would love it still had it not finally broke well and good with no hope of survival (the circuit board fried and there is no replacement for that item). I researched all the electric mowers and have to say, I'm partial to B&D electric mowers, but I kept coming back to this Remington for the amps - for the price, it has a higher amp rating that most of the other corded electrics. I may be a "girl" when it comes to "guy stuff" but I do know that the higher the amps, the more power behind the machine's ability to perform. The 12-amp Remington performs flawlessly, is lightweight and easy to maneuver, even holding on to the cord, easy height adjustment and all in all, a great corded electric mower. For those of you just looking into replacing your gas mower - electrics are relatively quiet, too. Not silent, but less noisy than the gas-powered variety plus they don't smell (like oil and gas or exhaust) and with the flick of the orange lever that you hold against the handle, the power is on - let go of the orange lever and it's off. Great for women who can't stand the yanking and yanking on a pull cord to get a gas-powered mower started! Lastly, the Remington comes with a rear bag (shown attached in the photo), but I leave it off, leave the "mulch block" in the bagger attachment opening and allow the mower to mulch the clippings. It does an excellent job of that as well. I would recommend the Remington cord mower to anyone interested in this type of mower.
