Product Description May Be Used With Wood Chunks Or Charcoal Durable Aluminized Steel Holders Make Indirect Cooking Convenient For Use On 22-1/2-In. Kettles Pair Of Holders Fill these briquet holders with charcoal or wood chunks when using the indirect cooking method on your 22-1/2-In. kettle grill. Made of durable aluminized steel to last for years to come.
Amazon.com Review Indirect cooking is the method of choice for larger cuts of meat such as ribs, roasts, whole chickens, or delicate foods like some types of fish. However, arranging hot coals evenly around the outside of a grill can prove messy, difficult, and even dangerous. This pair of fuel holders solves the problem by holding charcoal or wood chunks firmly in place, allowing you to place a pan in the center of the grill to capture drippings and prevent flare-ups. Heat from the two holders rises, reflects off the inside of the grill, and cooks slowly and evenly from all sides, much like a convection oven but with the improved texture and flavor of barbecue. Made from aluminized steel for exceptional durability, these fuel holders fit 22-1/2-inch kettle-style grills, including Weber's One Touch and Master Touch series. --Mary Park

Gets the job done July 7, 2005 Terje Kjobstad 32 out of 33 found this review helpful
Barbecue is good but controlling the heat from charcoals can be tricky. I've been trying to master the art for years, and with this product it makes it a lot easier to indirectly cook larger portions of meat. Also helps to controll the range of cooking you desire, on one side of the grill you can have less charcoal burning for things like hot dogs, and thinner portions of meat, that don't require intense heat, and on the other end you can put more charcoals for things like chicken breasts and steak. Has a suffiecient capacity but could hold more and is why I gave it 4 stars. Other than that I love the fuel holders it makes placement and clean-up of charcoal a breeze and it gets the job done.
These work for when you need them... January 28, 2006 Drew Cheney (Lodi, CA United States) 26 out of 27 found this review helpful
If you need to do indirect cooking, or you want to cook various kinds of food that require different temperatures (veggies and meat), then these are great for creating different heat zones in your grill. Other than that, the only other thing they're good for is keeping your charcoal in one place if you push the two units together into the center or side of your grill. I like these more than wire-framed models because these seem to direct more heat upwards, instead of letting it radiate out to the sides.
perfect for indirect grilling May 26, 2007 Terry R. Nye (Kingsport, TN) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I was reluctant to purchase these charcoal holders at first, mainly due to the cost and fear they would be cheaply constructed. Up to now I have been using inexpensive wire holders that are functional but not great. I was very pleasantly surprised when I purchased these Weber basket charcoal holders. They are solidly built, large in size (designed for 22-1/2" grills), and well worth the cost. Charcoal seems to heat up more rapidly in them, ash drops easily from the bottom, and you can empty the baskets easily after the coals have cooled. There is plenty of space between the baskets to put a foil pan with water to keep foods moist during indirect cooking. If you like to barbecue foods by the indirect method, these basket charcoal holders are perfect. I would buy them again in a second (although they will probably last for a very long time).
Makes charcoal organization easier August 31, 2005 RyRego (Orlando, FL) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
My neighbor has the "Performer" from Weber which I believe comes stock with these. He uses them all the time for indirect cooking so I figured they would come in handy for my 7 dollar Weber kettle tri-wheel special. They have worked out great so far. The price is a little much for just two pieces of metal, but it really takes the pain out of organizing two piles of briquets on each side of the grill.
Indirect Grilling: Conveniently keeps coals in place as designed. August 2, 2006 El Capitan (Prattville, AL United States) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Great for indirect cooking on that takes hours. For example, brisket, pork shoulder, turkey, etc. Fits perfectly in Weber 22 inch grills and leaves just the right amount of space for a drip pan. Used with a drip pan, they will keep the heat under control and right where you want it. I love mine.
