Certified Backfow Assembly Tester August 27, 2006 BAT (Federal Way, WA United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This backflow preventer is not approved by authorities in Washington state, and probably no other. Being constructed of plastic, it is prone to freeze damage.
Effective and cheap April 25, 2007 Brian H (Denver CO) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This device works fine for my application (residential with plastic pipe), but it does need to be thoroughly bled for winter to avoid freeze damage. Easy to assemble and seal, and there doesn't seem to be much alternative at this price.
consider comparably priced metal valves December 4, 2007 Todd A. Stevens (Apple Valley, MN United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used this valve for a sprinkler system in Minnesota and forgot one winter to bleed the valve completely and it cracked. After ordering the replacement, I was unable to easily install it (it's a long story but lets just say that plumbing is not my strong point). After contacting a plumber to install the new valve, he politely suggested using an all-metal valve in lieu of this plastic one - which would meet code - and it costs the same buying direct from him as I paid for the toro valve.
