Very Poor June 8, 2008 Geoffrey F. Beneze (Tempe, AZ USA) Well, it does give Caller ID, it scrolls through and dials, sorta. At that point things begin to go south. There is no back light. The display is very difficult to see no matter how adjusted. The only way I can viably use it is to put a lamp directly over the things. VERY poor design, IMO. However, it's been running for nearly two years (albeit poorly) and it's sorta done it's job. I guess I start a search for one that does what this on is SUPPOSED to this week.

Please do not waste your money on this product. We are not able to read the display. The base will not attach to the unit. Does not come with an AC adapter, and you can't order one. I have been trying to get my money back for a while, but doubt I will see it. I will probably get stuck with a product I will have to throw away. We needed a large display product. Thought we had one. BIG MISTAKE!

Strange, acceptable but smaller ones and other mfg are better with diff features. I would not buy again or recommend to someone else. This is my personal thoughts on the machine.

We got this unit because it's easier to read than our old one, and that part is fine. However, if I scroll through to check missed calls and then pick up the phone to call, it auto-dials the last number reviewed. I finally figured out that I have to scroll to "End of List" to stop it from doing this.
Caller ID via jumbo size display May 26, 2007 Jason L. Boston (Kansas City, MO) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Disappointed to find that this unit is NOT backlit with the light cyan background, as indicated by the promotional picture. After adjusting the contrast to the highest setting, I found the display to be okay. I read that other users have noticed that the characters fade over time. I have just received mine and can confirm or deny at this time. The time and date are automatically set, apparently by satellite, by just attaching a modular phone cord to the LINE jack. This unit displays the phone number in a weird format, for example 18-6994021. Looks more like a serial number than a phone number until you realize the hyphyen should have been between the 1 and 8 of this example and another would have been helpful between the second nine and the 4. Not that hard to work with this quirk once you are aware of it. More importantly, the caller name is correctly displayed (last name first). Disappointed, too, that three AAA batteries are required, unless you bypass with optional AC adapter. Neither batteries or adapter is shipped with this unit; however, I had a number of AC adapters on hand, including one with 120VAC-IN / 9VDC-OUT 300ma. Works great so the batteries don't matter. Anyway, just received this unit. Except as noted, satisfied, but time only will tell whether the display holds up or, as others have said, ultimately fades.
