previous reviewers sound confused November 4, 2006 Puffer Red (California, USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I feel the other reviewers rated this incorrectly. This is not the top grate for your food, rather this is for putting the charcoal on in the bottom section. There is no flip-up side option for this, there is no alternate sizing either. It just goes on the bottom of the kettle bowl so you have space for your coals. It is extremely heavy duty, my original grate from 1980 is almost rusted through and I have no need to replace it. But if you do, I'm sure it can last another 20 years.
Wrong dimensions June 2, 2005 Sally Smith 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
The copy says this grill is 16 1/2 inches in diameter. Mine arrived today and it is 17 inches in diameter. Will not fit my grill. Also I ordered on Monday and the price was $10.99; today it is $9.99
it fits too August 4, 2005 Jaime Mann 1 out of 1 found this review helpful

A quick tip! November 13, 2007 Joe Bob "Barefoot Okie in FL" 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These are pretty good, but you can make them better by getting two of them. No, I don't get a commission from Weber! This tip is mostly for those who use lump hardwood charcoal, which has a lot of irregular pieces. With a single grate, you lose a lot of small pieces through the grate. But if you get two grates, place them face to face, with the grill bars offset by a half (I hope that made sense) . The effect is a grate with twice as many bars, and much smaller gaps. Problem solved. You still get good airflow, but you get to keep those small pieces where they need to be - in the fire.

It's a good replacement but for $2 you can get the hinged one that is so much better.
