purchase with caution January 10, 2006 Varmint Hunter (Connecticut) 33 out of 33 found this review helpful
Like the other reviewer, I bought this to use with my toro powercurve snowblower. It worked fine except the female end of the extension cord never fit properly with the toro's male connector. The connector blocks are entirely molded which seems to be a good idea for water/weatherproofing, but it was just too big. I had to jam them together and it frequently disconnected. (I was using the toro's cord lock system properly). Anyway, I tried it out this fall with a toro electric vac/blower, and had the same problem, only this time I ended up with some melted plastic and some really nasty smelling smoke. It turns out that the connectors inside the female end of this cord are placed very far back into the molded block and there was very little surface area of actual plug contact, which led to the problem. (I was using the cord lock correctly with this one, too). It could just be an issue with toro electric power tools but just be aware. Other than that, seemed to be a pretty decent cord - didn't kink a lot and I ran over it a couple of times with the snowblower and I'm still here writing this, so it's fairly tough as well... Can't give it more than 3 stars because of the odd female plug design.
Great Extension Cord January 23, 2005 Jack O'brien 32 out of 33 found this review helpful
I bought this Extension cord to work with my Toro 38025 1800 Power Curve Snow Thrower I got from Amazon. I was a bit hesitant at first thinking I really didnt need 100 feet but now after 18 inches of Snow today im glad I got it. This cord works great! The color makes it very easy to see in the snow and with the added length I was able to clear Snow all the way to the back of my house and from both my neighbors houses. If you have an electric Snowblower then this is the Cord to go with!!!

100 feet is a long ways. I could go around my house a few times with that. also makes a great laso. basically this lets your in-home junk become your outside junk. perfect for any extension cord collector or anyone who wants electricity to come with them
Torn on first use March 30, 2008 A. Carron (Wisconsin, USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this to go with the snow blower I bought on the same day. It didn't snow enough to use the snowblower and power cord for over 30 days after I purchased the set. It appeared very sturdy as it is designed for outdoor use. The FIRST time I used this, the power cord casing split to reveal the inner insulation. It had not caught on anything and it was not near any sharp objects. It split just from lengthening the power cord to give more slack for using the snow blower, somehow, the cord twisted and split. For the price, I would not expect this product to split on the first use. I called the manufacturer (after much searching for the contact information) and they told me that since I bought it through Amazon, I would have to return it through Amazon. Amazon will not give a refund or exchange for the product since it was outside of the 30 days, even though this was the first use. In response to my complaint about this product, I got a form email and a suggestion to go to the manufacturer. I am very disappointed in the product and how poorly Amazon fights for its customers. Think twice before making big purchases on here outside of books and DVD's. I hope Amazon considers adjusting their customer service form emails to at least make it look like the person sending it actually read the original email to them about the situation.
User review -- Coleman Cable 01489 Polar Solar Extension Cord March 5, 2006 Richard J. Dechard (Portsmouth NH) 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
Product performed as advertised. Customer satisfaction could be enhanced if Coleman would offer this item on a spring loaded retractable reel.
