This is a MUST Have Item for the Weber Q August 11, 2006 Morris Booker (Smyrna, TN) 36 out of 37 found this review helpful
I got this stand today for my Weber Q 200. It's not the stoutest thing you could imagine but it is most sufficient for the job required. Anything more would just get heavier. Also, the engineering design itself is really quite convenient once you study how to best use it. While it came completely assembled it does have a learning curve. I spent about thirty minutes trying different approaches to raising and lowering the setup until finally it became a very simple task. Those complaining about not being able to raise the stand w/o taking the grill off are wrong and need to practice a bit more until they discover the trick to it. I can set this up or break it down in about 30 seconds. I did chose to make one change however. I think someone else mentioned doing the same. It has a long velcro strap for holding the cart in it's folded position. I instead use the strap to tie down the grill lid to the front of the cart. This makes it one integral unit so that I can raise or lower the whole grill without it becoming detached from the cart. When upright, make certain to "completely" lock in the wire support to the wheel axle. It not only snaps "over" the axle but also snaps on the "underside" as well. Steps to how I raise and lower the grill while on the cart. 1. Strap the grill handle to the front of the cart with the velcro strap. IMPORTANT! 2. Release the wire shelf at the bottom from the wheel axle. 3. Lift the wire shelf with your right hand while holding the left side of the grill with your left hand. 4. Pick up on the left side of the grill to take the weight off the leftside legs and at the same time pull up on the wire shelf in your right hand. (This folds the left side legs under the grill.) 5. Put your right foot in front of one of the wheels to keep them from rolling and lean the whole setup over the right side legs while at the same time lowering the unit to the ground and off you go! VERY SIMPLE TO DO! This is all done in one flowing motion actually and it takes about 15 seconds. But DO NOT forget step one, attaching the grill to the cart with the velcro strap. To raise simply do the reverse. Start by leaning the grill on its left side and pulling out the wire grill (if you tucked it under). Pull the wheels out to the right. Hold the wire grill in your right hand and pick the grills left side up with your left hand. Push the wire down and the left legs over and snap the wire in the axle. EASY! It works great like this and I am VERY glad I purchased the cart. I can't imagine being without it! OH! And does this grill ever do a fine job cooking! It is terrific! I am very pleased with my setup and have no doubt it will be well worth the investment. I'm sure you will be as well.
This is a MUST for the Q/Baby Q owners!!!! April 22, 2004 Emad Y. Allaho (Kuwait) 31 out of 31 found this review helpful
If you have invested in a Q or Baby Q grill, then there is absolutely NO point of NOT buying this cart. I have tried grilling without it (putting the Q on the floor), it was not fun. Besides, it is great to tow the Q with you if you have to walk to your grilling place. Get it, you won't be sorry that you did.
It's More Than Just A Cart... July 2, 2004 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
On the surface this looks like any ole cart that you would set your grill on. You may be asking yourself, self, why would I spend $40 on a grill cart when I can just set my grill on top of my folding table? Well here's why. This cart will fit your grill like a glove. Your grill will sit atop this sturdy cart like man on top of his mountain. I also use this cart to hold my big external propane tank (which I have connected to the grill using the optional hose attachment) and a little six pack cooler. This cart also offers you a place to hang your tools. It also folds down into a nice little package complete with velcro for ensuring that it stays folded. All these reasons prove why this is more than just a cart, it is a grilling podium.
It's okay...BUT it could be much better June 29, 2005 M. Grooms (California) 19 out of 26 found this review helpful
I reviewed the Baby Q grill separately and gave the grill itself much higher marks than I'm going to give the stand. Make no mistake I LOVE my Baby Q grill! So keep in mind the stand in no way, shape or form reflects on the grill itself. I'm just pointing out some ways I believe Weber can improve the utility and convenience of the stand. While this stand gets the job done it wasn't very well thought out. First of all it's a tad wobbly. I don't think it's likely to tip over. The stand is plenty wide enough from side to side and from front to back. I've just noticed it wobbles when I'm scrubbing the grate with a brush and sometimes when I'm trying to get a turner under a peice of meat that's sticking to the grate. I hold onto the grill handle to keep it steady. No big deal really. But sometimes I don't have a hand free to hold it with. Weber does sell another non-collapsible stand for the larger Q series grills that I would imagine is much sturdier. It's model number: 54601. It's twice the price but it comes with a hose for an LP tank and a rear panel that hides the tank. The real problem I have with this stand is the way it collapses. I think having to take the grill OFF the stand to collapse it is just plain stupid. With this stand you're forced to go through a number of steps just to collapse the stand and even more to get it ready for transport. Let's go through them shall we? step 1 - remove the grill and set it aside. step 2 - turn the stand over, pop the end loose and fumble for a few seconds trying to figure which end collapses first. You get used to it after awhile but it still takes more time. step 3 - If you're just going to pack the grill and stand away at this point you would wrap the Velcro strap around one side to keep the stand closed for storage/carrying. If you want to transport the grill on the stand you have some additional steps. step 4 - Turn the stand back over leaving the wire shelf pointing outward (it's used as the handle) and place the grill back on the stand. Step 5 - Wrap the Velcro strap around the grill top handle so the grill won't fall off while you're dragging it along. I'll explain a better way they could have done that part later. All that is just to break it down for storage or transport. When you want set the grill back up you have to go through all those steps in reverse! It seems absurd really. And while I don't particularly like the Coleman Road Trip portable grills over the Weber Q grills, I DO prefer the way their stands operate. Some of the Coleman Roadtrip models have scissor style stands that collapse in about 2 seconds WITHOUT having to remove the grill. So which would YOU prefer if given a choice? Removing, replacing, fumbling around and generally being aggravated? Or collapse the blasted thing in one movement and get on with your life? That seems like a no brainer to me! As it is, the Weber stand is unnecessarily complicated to collapse and I think some non-mechanical types will be frustrated having to fumble with it. I don't have any trouble setting it up and breaking it down. But I DO find it highly inconvenient. If they had only invited me to the focus group in the first place this unpleasant review process would not have been necessary... ;) Another improvement the Weber stand needs is the way it's held (or rather NOT held) on the stand. Some reviewers of the Baby Q grill pointed out that the grill stand only has hold downs on the back side so if you inadvertently grab the grill handle to move it you can lift the grill off the stand and possibly drop the thing. This is true and most people will be very inclined to grab the grill handle to move it since it's right there. Even if you DO grab the handle on the stand to move it you're in somewhat of an awkward position because you have to reach down below the grill handle. That's almost a foot lower! I found that you can simply use the Velcro strap that's already on the stand to hold the grill down. You just wrap it around either one of the "legs" on the front and your grill won't budge from the stand. Then you can grab the grill handle to move it all you want. I suggest wrapping the strap around the leg on the side opposite the from the wheels since that's the side you grab to move it with. Why Weber didn't think of using Velcro straps this way is beyond me. They were close but they just missed it. As they have it you use the strap to either hold the stand together when it's collapsed or you wrap it around the grill top handle to hold the grill down when transporting it on the stand. They can EASILY rework the stand with 2 straps to hold the front legs firmly on the stand. Several things I like about the Weber stand are that the grill detaches easily and it places the grill at a nice height. With the Coleman, and most of the other portables that have stands, the grill is not easily separated from the stand. And I'm not THAT impressed with the Coleman stand. The way they designed it to collapse there is the very real possibility the grill can slip out of your hand and slam to the ground--possibly even on your foot. Also the Coleman stands aren't as compact as the Q series stand. They collapse to a rather wide and bulky size. So here's my idea of the PERFECT stand for the Q series grills: 1 - Compact when folded. 2 - Easy to collapse and transport WITHOUT having to remove and replace the grill. 3 - No risk of dropping the grill on your foot when collapsing it. 4 - No need to use a Velcro strap to hold the stand together when collapsed. Make it push button, squeeze grip or snap in place! 4 - The grill is easily separated from the stand. 6 - The grill is firmly held in place on all 4 corners. 7 - Slide-out tables on either side would be nice since the Baby Q doesn't have them. Now is that too much to ask? Is any of that impossible? I don't think so! I'm totally happy with my Baby Q grill. I've never had a portable grill cook to the level of perfection this one does. I intend to keep using it for a long time to come. And I'm really hoping Weber will incorporate the basic improvements I mentioned in a future design. If they do I'll definitely replace the stand I have now. By the way they aren't exactly giving this stand away! I don't feel like I got my money's worth either. If it had been half the price I would have just thought "Oh well you get what you pay for..." As it is I'm thinking "Hey for this much money you guys can do better than this!" I hope Weber reads these reviews! Maybe if we all email them...

The WeberQ grill itself is great, but I don't know why this cart is getting so many good reviews.... this cart is basically worth about $1.00. It wobbles, it is hard to fold down, and it is not very well-designed. I have to guess the grill itself was designed by very good engineers but this cart was just an after-thought, designed by, well... not so good engineers. I built my own cart. You can also just get a plastic storage container with wheels if you shop around at Walmart or Home Depot. And you can put the grill on top. The grill radiates negligble heat on the bottom so it won't melt the plastic. On the other hand, the cart that Weber sells generates a suspicion of lame engineering.
