5 out of 5 stars Definitely works!   November 30, 2007

I also bought this trap based on the reviews of the Victor Tin Cat. It seems to be exact same product, just cheaper (I think you have to buy two traps when you purchase the Victor Tin Cat).

After setting the trap, we caught two baby mice within a few hours. I baited it with dog food, as I had seen a mouse run to my dog's food bowl. I put the dog food (hard) right by the vents on both sides and then in the middle of the two tunnels. Each mouse was caught separately, so we released on after the other. The mother is still at large.

The only down side is that unless you know where the mice are coming in from and can make provisions to block their entry, this trap is not a long-term solution. I live in an apartment building and I know that the mice are getting into my unit through the heating grates but I have no idea how they are getting into the building nor do I have the capability to stop them from entering the building. If you do not know where the mice are entering from, unfortunately, this trap will not get rid of the problem. Actually, I suppose no trap will work as a long term solution if you cannot find or cover up their entry point. All you can do is keep catching and releasing them and try to block any access to food in your home.

All in all, this trap is definitely humane and most certainly worth the money. I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars 5 mice caught the first night!   November 25, 2007

I bought two of these traps based on the very positive reviews of the nearly identical Victor Tin Cat ($27 elsewhere on Amazon). I smeared some peanut butter inside the traps and placed one trap in an area of my basement workshop where I know there's been recent mouse activity, and placed the other trap in my attic, where I suspect mouse activity. I caught five mice overnight in the basement trap, and then moved the empty attic trap to the basement and caught another mouse during the day. Both traps are now baited and ready. Once I think I've caught all the basement mice, I'll seal up a known mouse entry point near the bulkhead entrance and see if the basement remains mouse free... The trap is ingenious and well made -- so much better than snap traps. Shipping cost from Ace Hardware for two traps was $7.35. So I got two of these traps for the price of one Victor Tin Cat.

3 out of 5 stars Works most of the time   December 16, 2007

Caught six mice in a day and a half, but given enough time the mice can escape. Several times I set the traps overnight and in the morning found all the bait gone with no mice in the trap and the top still tightly closed. Probably best to check the trap every 3-4 hours if possible.

Haven't caught the little bugger yet. I think I'll just give him a name and forget it.

5 out of 5 stars It Works   April 24, 2008

I've had the little green house and it works except mice eat the catch and then you toss it. I have the tiny little grey ones with flip top. They work fairly well but very noisy at night with mouse inside so you have to get up. This Eaton one is the best so far. But, go to Eaton and buy it there - less shipping. Amazon charges a fortune to ship. Mice go in, stay in and it's quiet until you are ready to release. This one is a keeper.
