great product November 9, 2007 Jeri Dalton Dobbs (Southeast) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
API 5WWGS Water Wiggler with Sage Green Glazed Pottery Cover I have used several products of this type but this is the first one with the pottery cover. It is well worth the extra cost over the ones with just the plain plastic top. It prevents rain from entering the housing of the wiggler and just looks so much better. This wiggler works very effiently and is not so loud as to distub the wildlife while they drink. Oh yes, I have more than birds at my birdbath. I have squirrels, butterflies and chipmunks as well as a very wide assortment of birds. They are all welcome and we get much joy watching them sip the water then jump in for a good splash about. We are very pleased with this water wiggler.
Works, but short life June 7, 2008 Eleanor Wallen Toe 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had two of these. The second had this green terra cover. The first lasted 2 years with adjustments for battery life and problems with the little spinning arms. This second one I have had for about 8 months. Ready for a new one now. The biggest issue is the spinning arms. The rubber comes apart from the base they are on and deteriorates. They then stop spinning. The last one I glued with super glue several times until it was just rotten. Water got into the casing and ruined the battery compartment. This one has the ceramic shell on top to protect a bit more, but the little spinning arms still have a problems with rotting (the rubber). This one had a spare in the case and I thankfully put those on. That was 3-4 weeks ago. Now the who spinning assembly has come off and I don't know where it is (maybe in washing the bird bath it got washed into the yard. I really like this item, but due to the replacements (I did not mention that you have to continually pull leaves out of the assembly and wash it off...that is normal maintenance), it is fairly expensive. I think it ought to either be cheaper, or they should rethink the spinning arm and make it so it does not rot/come apart. The spare rubber pieces do help, but how about a design fix?
IT WORKS February 10, 2008 JK (ST. PETERSBURG, FL) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This works well, sometimes the wiggler drops out but not too tricky to put back in the hole, this does run 24-7. The birds are getting use to it, I don't see that it draws more birds yet, scared the birds at first. I worry what will happen if it gets knocked over? etc. 2 D batteries in it. I guess it will just short out? Really no clue which bothers me, and no answer in the info sent, don't want to electrocute anybody. The birds don't bath in the bird bath, which is large, they do drink. Too pricey for what it is but Amazon had free shipping so that helps. Really not thrilled with it. I had a milk jug filled with water with a pin hole punched in it hanging over the bath that drew more birds. We birders might just want to save our $35 bucks for bird seed? And hang a free empty milk jug on a tree limb over the bath, covered mine with a basket. Happy birding!!
