Fluorescent Flood Bulb May 31, 2007 Fred (Frankfort, OH USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
We tried this bulb in a kitchen recessed light in place of a halogen 100W. This bulb was so much dimmer that it was not usable. Not sure how they decided this was the equivalent of a 100 watt bulb.
Saving lots of energy June 17, 2007 js (Laverock, PA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
We have eight flood lights in our kitchen and we had been using 150 Watt bulbs in them. We replaced all eight with Globe 23-Watt BR38 Compact Fluorescent Flood Bulbs and are very pleased with the results. In addition to an 85% reduction in energy consumption, the kitchen doesn't get hot from the bulbs. The incandescent bulbs generated an incredible amount of heat. The fluorescent bulbs do take a couple of seconds to come on and a couple of minutes to reach maximum strength but the wait is well worth it.
Would not fit in recessed fixtures November 11, 2007 Hoosier Daddy (Indiana) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
These bulbs would not fit in the recessed fixtures (cans) in my house because of the large plastic housing near the base of the bulb.
Globe shows mediocre quality April 8, 2007 V. Antunes (NJ, USA) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
These flood bulbs and including their 13-watt regular bulbs take 1-2 seconds to turn on and then take a few minutes before reaching maximum brightness. All the power saving is nice, but the inconvenience is annoying. Especially considering that I have this other fluorescent bulb from Sunrise that works perfectly. The problem is it was a promotional product via the mail or something and now I can't find them online.
Globe 23-Watt BR38 Compact Fluorescent Flood Bulb June 3, 2007 JFL (Bethesda, MD) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchaseed 15 of these bulbs and installed them all over the house. Unfortunately, these bulbs take several seconds to emit any light when first energized, especially if they are cold (ambient temperature about 75 deg F). They then take up to 2 additional minutes to reach their full brilliance. I find this to be totally unacceptable and, therefore, am returning all of them.
