Amazon.com Review This portable ramp from PetSTEP helps your pet overcome the prohibitive dimensions of stairs, vehicles, and furniture. To use, simply unfold the ramp and prop one end against a truck bed, vet table, or top step. Animals can walk up or down at a gentle incline, instead of struggling, jumping, or being lifted. With its sturdy structure and rubberized surface, the ramp helps reduce arthritis and dysplasia pain, lowers the chances of injury, and cuts down on back strain. The nonslip grip is compatible with virtually all edges. In addition to its primary function, the PetSTEP ramp has any number of secondary uses. With its 500-pound capacity, it's sturdy enough for humans, and separately sold accessories can convert it into a grooming table, wheeled cart, or water ramp. Designed to be rust-free and to float, the unit measures 70 by 18 inches and comes assembled. A latching mechanism keeps it closed between uses. --Emily Bedard

Rust and corrosion-proof, the ramp washes easily with soap and water. Attach the optional leg kit to create a table that's great for tailgating and picnics. 70"L x 17"W x 21/2"D. Perfect for an older pet July 12, 2003 David C. Roberts (Potomac, Md USA) 50 out of 52 found this review helpful
We have a 15 year old Caridgan Welsh Corgi who can't do stairs any more because she has a bad shoulder and a bad hip. But we have two steps at the front door, where she needs to go out. After shopping a LOT I found the PetStep ramp. I liked the fact that it's approved by the ASPCA, and ordered one. The ramp is well made of very sturdy plastic construction. We leave it set up outside all the time, and it's clear that it will last. The instructions that come with it say that it will hold 250 pounds and I believe it. A very nice feature is that the center part of the ramp, where the dog walks, is a rubberized material, making it easy walking. With a little training, our Kendall can now get herself up and down the ramp. Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks! We taught her by leading her up and down the ramp by holding a dog snack a couple of feet in front of her, then giving it to her when she completed the trip. Then we gradually replaced the dog treats with petting, hungs and congratuations--which she liked even better than the treats. These days a "good dog" does the trick.
Useful but a hazard to the user December 25, 2003 Anthony Vanacore (Northford CT) 23 out of 35 found this review helpful
It looked like a great Idea, just what I needed to get my older golden in and out of my jeep. Problem is, there is a serious crush hazard because of the weight and design. There is a finger "crush area" near the hinges where a user would most likely grasp the ramp to fold it. I have mashed fingers several times and sustained a moderately serious crushed finger the last time I used it. If I can't make it safe with a saw, then out it goes. It's too dangerous for anyone in my family to use.
TERRIFIC FOR EVEN AN OLDER DOG February 7, 2005 Katherine S. Schendt (wisconsin) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
Ok, I was worried that my smart golden retriever would be able to learn this "new trick." As with any command, gentle reassurance, praise and treats, our 10-year-old golden loves her new "toy." What a joy to not see her "worry" about trying to jump into my SUV!
Sturdy Ramp but Difficult and Ackward to Fold August 18, 2006 K. McKenna (Boston, MA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Good sturdy ramp supports a lot of weight and gives great traction to the animal but it is difficult and ackward to fold up and takes up a lot of room in the car. I would love this product if it came in a telescoping version.
Nice idea, BUT... August 6, 2006 EngMastiffDog (AZ) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought mine 4 yrs ago, so I may have the previous incarnation. The handle broke off almost immediately, which made the ramp extremely unwieldy for a short plump middle-aged woman to work with. Then the cotter pin got lost. My English mastiff did like using it at first; now however, at 12 yrs old, he can't see the edges of the ramp & stumbles over the sides unless I guide each footstep. It needs to be wider for giant breeds; he's on the small side for a mastiff -- 160 lbs & 27" tall. So be aware of what the design drawbacks may be. I now can use only one half of the ramp & that's really too steep an angle for my boy getting in & out of my Honda Odyssey. And I'm sorry, but 19 lbs is NOT LIGHTWEIGHT!! Not when you're hauling it in & out of a van!
