Product Description
This virtually indestructible frame bed is made of 16 gauge steel frame and luggage grade fabric for years of long lasting use. It keeps your dog above the cold ground and floor drafts. Raised platform doesn't collect dirt and dust around it and does not create condensation and rot like foam beds that are used on cold floors. The high side walls are comfortable and cozy for your pet to cuddle up against. The padded board keeps the platform straight to protect your dog's spine. Durabed is machine washable and normal soil wipes off with a wet cloth. Or, hose down the floor without moving the bed. There's no waiting for the floor to dry. So great it's recommended by veterinarians.

We purchased 2 of these beds for our Beagles, who like to chew when unobserved. From the description, we hoped they wouldn't have much luck chewing through the material on this bed. They chewed up all the foam and even put several large holes in the cover itself. So much for getting a bed they can use outside and not worrying about them destroying it (and that was during a 4 hour time period). However, one bed has been left inside and it works well when you keep an eye on the dogs. If you have a dog that doesn't chew, I think this bed would be great. It is easy to put together and very easy to clean. Is a great bed for both outdoor & indoor dogs.

This is a good bed. Some other reviewers have said it is not as durable as it claims and it becomes rickedy with use. Maybe it is not the best choice for huge, heavy dogs. I wouldn't know about that but we have a small dog and a medium dog and they love their beds. We've had one bed for a couple of years and its just as solid now as when we first put it together. Which is why we bought the second one when we got our second dog. Perhaps the reviewers that had rickedy problems didn't put it together properly. Some reviewers said it was not durable because their dogs chewed it to shreds. duh. That sounds like a dog problem, not a bed problem. Durable does not mean indestructable when being violently attacked. Neither of our dogs have chewed their beds. I am totally happy with this product.

Our previous dog beds have been the foam rubber or pillow types. They seem to quickly lose their shape and are a pain to wash. Also, our dog likes to rub his face on his bed after he eats (must have a bit of raccoon in him ;-). His "washing" activity always ended up sliding his bed across the floor.
This Petmate bed takes care of the sliding problem quite nicely. Also, the canvas covering wipes down easily and can be washed if you remove the foam-covered board from its velcro-closed pouch and disassemble the frame. Its not hard to do, but I'd rather not. To alleviate the washing issue, and to provide a little more cushion for the dog, we bought an inexpensive fleece blanket that we fold and place in the bed. The dog arranges the blanket to his liking, and it (the blanket, not the dog) can be easily cleaned in the washer.
Best of all...my wife approves.

my dog loves this bed. i replaced another petmate bed that he had that was portable that he outgrew and i think that he loves this bed so much better than he liked the previous one. he is a big dog and this bed gives him room to curl and stretch and it doesn't sag or shift when he's laying on it. I highly recommend this bed to anyone with a dog. large or small. they will like this bed for it's comfort and support that it gives when they lay down. :)

My dog loves this bed!! Easy to assemble, looks nice, a great deal for the price. I feel better with him off the floor and out of drafts. Easy to clean the bed and the sleeping area around the bed. He's been in it since I put it together, and keeps going back when I call him out. Lightweight, but sturdy construction. Odered for Christmas on 12/9. Stated wouldn't ship till 12/26. Got shipment notification e-mail on 12/9, rec'd bed on 12/10. FAST shipping.
