Great pet carrier! May 31, 2005 AGadgetsJunkie 77 out of 77 found this review helpful
I just recently purchased this bag to transport my cat in an international flight. The bag is perfect if you want to keep a low profile during the trip. Only a few people noticed that I was carrying a cat with me! (kids most of the time). Anyway I think this bag is perfect to carry your pet in air flights but training your pet to become used to it is very important as well. The bag fits perfectly under a plane seat. I would've liked a set of wheels in the base of the bag to drag it around since my cat is really heavy (about 12 lbs) but other than that I have no complaints from this bag. The materials are very resistant and high quality. Definitely a must buy if you intend to take your pet with you in the plane. Highly recommend!.
This bag is a disaster!! October 21, 2005 Chile (Chile) 44 out of 55 found this review helpful
My fiance and I bought two of these Sherpa bags for our two cats. They cost us about $125 - much more expensive than the traditional hard carriers - but we gladly paid it, excited at the prospect of a more manageable and comfortable cat carrier than the ones we had used in the past. However, we were very disappointed with the bags when we put them to use. In fact, choosing them over hard cases turned our flight into a nightmare! We used the two bags to fly with the cats from the U.S. to Chile-a long trip, but shorter than most international trips by a lot. During the flight, as we were sleeping, the zipper of one of the bags failed, coming apart from below the zipper the way old jackets sometimes do, so you can't re-zip them. Since we were asleep and not noticing, this allowed the cat to escape!!! It was a disaster, with flight attendants upset and us crawling around the cabin searching for the cat when we had been happily napping! Some passengers were allergic and had to be moved from the cabin. The second bag fared little better. Our other cat managed to scratch holes in the bag's netting, which she could quickly have enlarged and escaped through, had we not stuffed the bag with a blanket to cover the holes. I spent the rest of the flight making sure she didn't scratch new holes. Now, after one use, both bags need to be replaced, as one bag's zipper no longer zips (the zipper remains open as you pull the zipper along), and the other bag is riddled with holes. We made a $125 purchase for two bags that ruined our trip and can never be used again!
Doesn't comply with Delta's own regulations. December 12, 2005 Derek Diamond (Austin, Texas) 38 out of 50 found this review helpful
Delta restricts pet carriers for in-cabin 'carry on' use to the maxmium dimensions of 17"L x 12"W x 8"H. The carrier above is not within specification. Better to know that now than find out later at the ticket counter.
Cat Carrier good but removal of pet for security check is necessary March 11, 2006 Zevon (Vermont/Florida) 36 out of 36 found this review helpful
I am very pleased with my carriers. I have not encountered the problem with the zippers that is mentioned in another review but will recheck them for sure. Yes, putting the cat in and walking around the house with them is important to getting them used to it instead of jamming the cat in and taking off. Cats do not like surprises. ** Be aware that you must take the cat out of the carrier and carry him/her through security and have the carrier pass through x-ray. This is not easy for someone who is not *very* familiar with handling a terrified cat on a maiden voyage in the airport. Like the fact that it looks like an ordinary carry on bag.
Is approved for under seat in cabin travel December 13, 2005 MMF (Windsor, CT USA) 34 out of 34 found this review helpful
This carrier is approved for in cabin under the seat travel. All the airlines I have spoken to have regulations for the size of carrier that can be brought onboard. These regulations are inforced for hard carriers. I was told by Delta & American that as long as the soft sided bag is not larger than a regular carry on piece it is ok. This bag will fit under the seat as well as most of the Sherpa bags available. As airline rules change often, it is always better to ask when making reservations.
