"sling-go" a go-go! December 17, 2007 stormynomenclature 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I am convinced the reason it is so difficult to find this product in pet stores (one even told me they didn't think these were made anymore), is because it would make so many other much more expensive (and more cumbersome) ways of porting a small dog around obsolete! I'm not talking about when you need to have the puppers enclosed (like on a bus or plane), but if you're looking to go marsupial with your best-beloved bud, for a quick run to the mailbox in the rain, or anytime you want to keep 'em close and comfy -- and not burden your back over-much -- this is the one! I have hunt around and spent bucks, but neither I nor mine is happier with any other one than this. (Don't you think Outward-Hound should send me a free one now...? No? Oh well, that's okay :) By the way, my dog is a Pekingese who now weighs about 12 lbs and she fits just about right -- but you wouldn't want to go much heavier.
Sling for about the house May 13, 2008 animalwatcher 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was looking for something to carry one of my Yorkie's around the house that would be comfortable for me and the dog, leaving my hands free to do tasks. I was skeptical at first, it seemed so large for my 5 lb. Yorkie. But it is his favorite carrier, I have many, and he clammors to get in. He will poke his head out but most often he will curl up and sleep. Quite content. The virture of this for me, is that it is so soft and doesn't get in my way while I do house work. I recently had another dog with an injured leg and tried to use a harder carrier for him as well as using the sling for my other dog. Didn't work. I'm now going to get another sling so I can carry both my dogs, like a gunfighter, at the same time and do my work about the house. I've used it some when going to the store and it is so much easier, crossing across the chest, than any of my other carriers. I have added soft fleece in the bottom to raise him up a bit, he just curls up and sleeps, and relaxes.
not for tiny dogs April 27, 2008 Donna M. Cea Bought this to carry around a 1.5 lb chihuahua, but she can easily fall out of it. Not for tiny dogs!! Not manufactures fault, but it should come with a warning.
Great concept, and the dog loves it! September 11, 2008 Anna Banana (Oregon) This sling is very durable and the wide strap is very comfortable across my shoulder. I have a 3 lb MinPin/Chihuahua who loves to be carted around in it. It's way too big for him, but I hook his collar to the lobster clasp at the front of the sling (great safety precaution) and he sits more towards the front on a folded-up blanket. It's great for being hands free, and worked great at the farmers market and around the house. He may get a little too hot in it during hot days, though. It may be too much sling for chihuahuas and yorkies, I'm still waiting for something a little more simple and something that holds him closer to my chest, but it's safe and it works well.
Just what I needed, and my dog loves it. September 25, 2008 Yorkie Mom I was looking for this type of product for my small Yorkie. I needed something to let me hold her safely while keeping my hands free for doing errands and such. It is almost too big for my dog, as it is for pets up to 20 lbs or even two smaller ones (it has 2 clips). What I did was put a small neck roll pillow that I already had and never used. This way she is higher up with a better view. Now she loves it. Yesterday we were going out and I put her sling on the floor next to the door while going to get something else I needed and came back to find her sitting in her sling, ready to go--she knows what it's for! Since it is so spacious I sometimes even put some other things underneath the pillow like my wallet, keys, her leash, a baggie with some food for her, and one of her toys. It does have a very small pocket on the strap, but I haven't used that yet. She now also likes to curl in it and take a nap inside (even if nobody is wearing it). It works well for us!
