This bed is not quite as cushioned as the photograph may lead people to believe. I may have to open the inner pillow and stuff in a bit more polyfil in order to make it more comfortable for my pooch. The filling spreads and leaves the dog's elbows and knees on the hard floor and as a result she's not interested sleeping on it. Other than being understuffed, it's quite large if that's what you need- at 52'' diameter, it could accommodate a Dane, large Rottweiler, or other Mastiff-type dog (or just leave a lot of room for your smaller pup to spread out). The description lists this item as machine-washable- the care tag is quite a bit more specific- requiring owners use a front-loading commercial washer to wash the outer cover. The pillow may be fluffed in a commercial dryer (no words on washing). The plaid fleece cover top is very soft and muted in color. The cover bottom appears to be of the same material as some of Coleman's tents. The outer cover is secured via velcro closure. Overall, not bad for the money ( at Amazon's price )but it could be very much improved by more stuffing. If you're willing to run to the fabric store and do a little adjustment it's a great bed.
