1 out of 5 stars Doesn't seem to work -- and beware Hartz Flea Drops!   July 6, 2005

The label on this product claims that it kills fleas on contact. Well, I put that to the test: after using this product for a few days without any noticable results, I found a flea and placed it on a tile floor. I then sprayed it, leaving it swimming in a puddle. It didn't seem to faze the flea at all -- after struggling a bit, it jumped out of the puddle and kept on going.

Also, I purchased Hartz Flea drops for cats (which also did not work, at all). I did so despite having read nothing but bad information in the newsgroups I searched before purchasing the product. A few days later, I decided to visit the Hartz website, and found that the Flea drops are being voluntarily recalled -- in October 2005 (after flea season). While no reason was given, it was implied that people have complained about the product harming their pets (the notice says that Hartz does not admit that any cats have died).

I haven't found a good carpet spray yet, but for flea drops for my cats I picked up Frontline Plus from my vet, and it worked like a charm. It's pricey, but well worth it (working very quickly) -- but take my advice: avoid the Hartz stuff.

3 out of 5 stars not too impressed.   August 23, 2005

I would have given 2.5 stars if that was an option. I used this to deal with a flea problem in my apt and after 4 days it only seems moderately effective. I plan on giving it a few days and if there are still fleas in my house I am calling a professional exterminator. Oh, and I used their drops and they were worthless...ended up talking to the vet who said to wash my cats and give them 24 hours and then I could apply Frontline which seems to work better and doesn't make as much of a mess on the cats fur.

2 out of 5 stars Temporary fix   October 8, 2005

This is kind of like a flea deterrent. Basically, it makes them move to the other side of the room and they will be back, serving as a very short-term temporary quick fix. I recommend an exterminator and Advantage or Frontline flea treatment.

The good thing about this product is that it doesn't smell bad and it's cheap. If your exterminator isn't scheduled to come over until next week and you have guests coming over tonight- use this on and around your couch. That's about all it is good for. In the long run it is ineffective.

1 out of 5 stars Ineffective   January 9, 2008

Like the other reviewers, I've found this spray (as well as the corresponding one for cats) to be very ineffective.
