petsafe bark collar - comfort fit July 19, 2007 C. Lowe (Bend, OR USA) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
Purchased this collar for our bichon-poo, he is a little yippy at times. Collar worked fine for about a week, then he started barking again, replaced the battery that cost $10.00, I figured we had a defective battery. Same thing, worked for a week and then the barking started again. Not sure what the problem is, but it seems like the battery only lasts a short time, the dog is not barking when the collar is working so he is not what is causing the battery to run down. Will be returning collar to place of purchase (not amazon) and will buy a different brand, such as Innotek. E-mailed Petsafe without any response.
Great for dogs under 10 pounds! December 6, 2008 Kat (Florida) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
We have tried this collar and the Tri tronics bark collar for small dogs, and the Petsafe collar is smaller and seems to be more comfortable on our 3 small dogs. The other thing we like about the Petsafe collar is that it is self-adjusting, so if your dog barks once and the first mild shock doesn't correct the barking, it automatically increases the intensity of the shock. The intensity of the Tri tronics collar needs to be manually adjusted by you. Both are good products, but the Petsafe collar works better for us and our mini dachshunds & Papillion.
The collar has made all the difference! (your b*tch will be quiet if used properly) February 8, 2007 J. Keas 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I have a boxer puppy and I am crate training her. Within a few weeks of use this device has taught her not to bark when she goes into her kennel while I'm at work. I bought this tool initially because I was concerned that her persistant barking would break the sanity for myself and the neighbors. It's a great tool when used correctly and consistently.

Yes, the fact that you have to buy a "special" battery for the device is ridiculous, but you can't deny that it stops the yapping. Make sure you place the device on your little yip-yip snug enough and in the right place as detailed in the directions. Also, be persistent with usage or the dog wont learn to be quiet. Initially, batteries lasted only about 2-3 weeks, but now I go over 3 months on one battery, if I even need to use the collar at all.
Great for helping the dog settle down when kennel training.
The advantage of some of the Innotek products is that some don't require any special battery, but be careful, some do require plugging in to a special charger station (batteries not replaceable in some units).
Complete waste of time and money December 9, 2007 D. Seeley (Arlington, Texas USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I purchased this collar nearly a year ago to deal with a barking problem with my pomerianian. The collar was completely ineffective even after following all of the recommended suggestions in the product documentation including checking the fit, and shaving the hair on the dogs neck. After talking with Pet Safe's customer support, they agreed to send me a replacement collar (assuming that the first one was defective). The second one arrived and it doesn't work any better than the first one.
This collar has a flashing green light that is supposed to turn red when the dog is barking and it gives correction. I have been able to observe my dog while he is actively barking and the collar is not giving any correction. I have tested it (as suggested by Pet Safe) by rubbing the vibration sensor on a hard surface while simultaneously blowing into the sound sensor and the red light does flash, but it simply does not work on my dog. There are no user adjustable setting or sensitivity adjustments, so I am completely out of luck. I am totally at my wits end and I would give this item 0 stars if that were possible. Pet Safe should be ashamed for foisting this type of inferior product on the unsuspecting public. I would strongly suggest that you save your money and look elsewhere.
Didn't stop barking completely March 13, 2007 Holly Harwig (Grand Marais, MN) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was hoping for better results from the barking collar. Although it seems to help a little, there are still times when the collar doesn't seem to startle my dog enough to get him to stop barking. I would not purchase it again, knowing what I know about it, and the cost of it.
