Excellent Comprehensive Guide November 14, 2006 Rex Dart 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've bought some Prima guides over the years, and sometimes feel like I was kinda ripped off. Not so with this one. The walkthrough is appropriately comprehensive and detailed, as should be expected. The playing tips actually exceed my expectations, though. For example, the writeups on each hero don't simply rank their powers on how much damage they do or how efficient they are, but also on how simple or complicated they are to use! This is very useful, especially for older, clumsier gamers like me. If Power A is "by the numbers" better than Power B, but requires some complex button manipulation to execute properly in the heat of battle, it's not that good for me. Nice to see a book that recognizes this principle. It reads like the authors really played the game a lot, and aren't just regurgitating design documentation or something. I'm about 3/5 through the game, and there don't seem to be any major changes to the game that make the guide book "outdated" by late code changes. I've run into a couple here and there, but they're all minor things, nothing that really seems to impact gameplay.
Great Guide--Bad Binding May 30, 2007 Michael S. Moore 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I thought that this was a really great guide to beat the game and uncover literally every secret in the game. The maps were detailed and very helpful and the character descriptions were very helpful. DESPITE all the good that it did-for some reason, my copy had the worst binding of any book I have ever bought. I didn't trash the book at all, just through normal wear, it lost its binding and is now broken up into 5 sections in between the covers. Way to go Brady for writing a great book but whoever put that together for you was a moron.
Got the job done! February 13, 2007 Tracy Congdon (Belleville, MI USA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
With this book I was able to locate all the "extras" and find my way past those areas that would have been sure to get me lost. I like how it was not for any specific system. I highly reccommend it because I like hard games but I hate when I get stumped or the game loses the fun value because you aren't sure what to do. With this book however I beat the game on Normal (with the book) and then started my team again on hard without the book. -Tracy Congdon Congdon Enterprises & Financial Services LLC 866-514-8216 Office -Business Loans -Equipment Leasing
A great sidekick to have with this Game March 10, 2007 Jose Juan Rodriguez (El Monte, CA USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
As with all strategy guides by Brady Games, this book proved quite useful, especially in finding the collectibles and simulator discs.. the only thing I still don't know is how to get the fourth costume of Silver Surfer once he's unlocked cuz I don't have a simulator mission appear like Black Panther & Daredevil when they were unlocked. Anyway, great guide to a great game.
Awesome guide to awesome game March 8, 2007 Joseph M. Zupkus (Arlington, VA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Ultimate Alliance is a big game with a lot of variables in fighting styles. The guide was very helpful in weighing the pros, cons and special features of each character. As is typical, the guide does a very thorough job walking you through the game and revealing things you might naturally overlook. My only criticism is that it did not make clear that some charcters could only be unlocked in certain systems (i.e X-Box vs PS2 vs X-Box 360). Otherwise, a good - even for a casual player like myslef.
