The software asks you questions in plain English, then puts answers on official, approved forms. View larger. |
TurboTax double-checks your return, looks for errors and missed deductions, and flags audit risks. |
File your return electronically via E-file, or by mail. | No More Lost Opportunities Deluxe Deduction Maximizer shows you how to qualify for over 350 deductions, from mortgage interest, to child-care expenses and more, so you don't miss important deductions that could have a significant impact on your return. As you move through the deduction process, this program looks for deduction opportunities, shows you which deductions you've already taken, which you haven't, and which you're not yet eligible to take. The end result is a comprehensive tally showing how much you've saved in deductions as well as the impact on your refund or bottom line. Life Events Planner This program now features software that guides you through common life events-- like buying a new home, taking on new dependents, marriage or divorce-- and shows how future life changes will affect next year's taxes. By giving you a glimpse of what's to come, you can optimize your present and future tax situation. Time-Saving Options Deluxe Deduction Maximizer is loaded with time-saving features that help you to quickly and easily file your taxes without making mistakes or cheating yourself out of key deductions. First, this program lets you transfer and edit information from your last year's TurboTax return so you don't have to enter it again. Then, when it comes time to make changes, you can take advantage of the summary pages at the end of each section-- they make it a snap to find and edit data you've previously entered. Save even more time by quickly jumping to sections of your return using a clickable tax topic list. Nothing wastes time more than an exhaustive audit, and that's why Deluxe Deduction Maximizer flags items the IRS might question so you can take care of potential problems before you file. At the same time, this program compares your deductions to national averages for your income bracket so you can quickly see if your deductions fall outside the norm. This prevents future headaches while also potentially saving you money. Fast, Guaranteed Results Because it's so thorough and easy to use, Deluxe Deduction Maximizer can help deliver the fastest refund possible. For even speedier results, e-file your return and get your money back in as little as 10 days (fees apply). This program also comes with TurboTax's guarantee that you'll get the maximum refund you're entitled to with TurboTax than with any other tax preparation method or they'll refund you every penny of your purchase price.

Staying with TurboTax December 5, 2006 Michael A. Brown (Salt Lake City, UT USA) 57 out of 75 found this review helpful
Last year, TaxCut left Mac users out in the cold when they stopped making a version for that platform. TaxCut customer service is pathetic as well. At the same time, Turbo Tax had solved a few problems that they'd been having for a couple of years. When I switched back, the only problem I ran into was not being able import the previous year's TaxCut info into TurboTax. The interface for the program is good. It's fairly easy to jump back-and-forth within your return. The major drawback is that if you're ready to file, the program won't let you until it gets all of it's updates. Beyond that, TurboTax earned my business back with a program that is easy to use and pays for itself.
Best In Class, But... December 3, 2006 John P Bernat (Kingsport, TN USA) 56 out of 67 found this review helpful
I just finished a pro-forma tax return last night and, as has been the case for many years, using TurboTax was relatively easy and "bulletproof." My criticisms below are therefore meant to be constructive... 1. While the deduction finder feature was great, it was tedious. 2. File saves could be more frequent or automatic. 3. Calculation fields attached to most, if not all, numeric entry panels would be a big plus. 4. File transfers from Quicken were spotty. Some items were missed due to field defintion conflicts between TT and Quicken 2003. It's the gold standard for home tax prep, though, and I would not hesitate to recommend using it.
Before you buy, read this! December 9, 2006 Gadgester (New York) 48 out of 59 found this review helpful
Before you buy this, you should be aware that Intuit charges $15 for each e-file, Federal or state. There's no free e-filing with Turbo Tax, period. Seriously, I think $15 is a lot to pay for e-filing. There are websites that give you completely free e-filing; my favorite is TaxAct (at taxactonline dot com). With TaxAct, you get the complete Federal plus state package for $7.95, which includes e-filing. Or you can use their standard package to prepare Federal and e-file for free, with *NO* income restriction! I don't work for any of these companies, nor any tax-related company, nor any such entity. I just don't think it's right for Intuit to charge customers such a ridiculously high fee for e-filing, whereas people can e-file for free elsewhere. BTW, if you use Turbo Tax to prepare your return, you'll have to use Intuit's e-filing service if you want to e-file; you can't just take your file to another website and expect that website to do it for you. I used TaxAct in the past and they are very dependable. You can find reviews of TaxAct products in major magazines and on major websites. Good luck.

This year they stopped paying for the federal online "e-file" - worth $15. So have the other guys, but... now that they know you're hooked on efiling, they've quietly removed that benefit. I think the federal government should pay us for doing all the data entry for them!
TurboTax 2005 December 23, 2006 Robert Allaben (Gaylord, MI) 22 out of 28 found this review helpful
I have used TurboTax since I retired over 10 years ago. Before that I had always used a tax accountant to do my taxes. After using TurboTax for 4 or 5 years my doubting wife felt we should have the tax accountant review our tax return done using TurboTax. He found no errors and had no additional suggestions. For years I have been a Beta tester and each year there are improvements to the previous year's program that I had thought couldn't be improved upon. One year I used a less expensive tax program and quickly found that to be a big mistake. I highly recommend TurboTax.
