1 out of 5 stars 360 refuses to install and likes to delete hardware drivers   July 6, 2007

going on 6 hours to install. brings back memories of trying to install vista. horrible interface and touchy with other programs already on the computer and unrelated to nortons products. install somehow deleted drivers for my dvd/cd-rom drive and cause a whole other online scavenger hunt to track them down. the online helpdesk from symantec does not function and brings back error messages when trying to get assistance and the phone number is an endless cycle of press random numbers to go to random offices only to be disconnected or left on hold endlessly. if i could kill with a thought, symantec staffers would be dead right now.

1 out of 5 stars A variety of problems   January 13, 2008

I recently purchased Norton 360. I figured I'd invest the money for a program that will allow my PC to run smoothly, watch for viruses and optimize performance. Like the other raters, I have had too many problems with this program. I get a lot of errors, the online secure backup feature won't work, it's constantly asking me to restart my PC, and the auto-fix feature seems to be broken because it is stuck in some loop where it continually tries to fix the same problem over and over. I feel like this was a waste of money and I have had to waste hours waiting in queue to speak with support only to be told 1) restart my PC and when that didn't work to 2) reload Norton 360.

I would not buy this product again.

2 out of 5 stars Really SLOWS Up an Older PC   January 12, 2008

Ran this software for less than 2 weeks before returning it for refund. It brought an older PC (600MHz, 640MB RAM, Dell Dimension running XP SP2) to a crawl regularly, even temporarily locking it up. I later read on Consumer Reports that anti-virus suites such as Norton 360 should have at least 1GB of RAM. (Norton 360 system requirements specify only 300MHz and 256MB of RAM.) On the plus side, the user interface is simple to use and understand. Unfortunately, the speed impact on the PC made that irrelevant.

1 out of 5 stars Norton 360 Nightmare   January 15, 2008

My experience with this product has been an outright nightmare. I have re-installed twice, had multiple chats with Symantec "Tech Support" and never received a response to my email inquiries. It is my opinion the product does not function correctly and Symantec DOES NOT intend to support the product after purchase. I urge you to buy another product such as Zonealarm by CheckPoint. You will save some money and avoid the nightmares.

1 out of 5 stars paying for a blue screen   January 18, 2008

I tolerated Norton last year for a whole year, it slowed down my computer, blocked access to common websites, and generally took allot of work. Besides the anti virus software the extra componants are mostly built into Windows already. When I upgraded to 360 a few weeks ago I lost access to my bank's secure website. It took me two hours to get a chat tech support, days after my email request went unanswered. They finally sent me a special program just for removing the program. After running the uninstall I was instructed to reboot. That was the last time I used my computer. Now when I try to reboot I get an error "autochk program cannot be found skiptted autocheck" immediately followed by a BLUE SCREEN error. Windows XP won't even boot up in safe mode now. I talked to Dell tech support, spent 10 hours of work time trying to fix it, and now am on hold waiting for Norton - Symmantec expensive tech support. I have called twice now, the first time the line was disconected after holding for 1 hour, now I've been on hold for 1:35 and still no person. Why pay to get a blue screen error. I thought I was paying for security.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
