Alright, I Normally give All Trek Games 4 Stars but this one? Bah, 1 Star if possible, Sure it kicks at first, but after a week and bulding all the ships 2 or 3 times and just sitting there while the mission runs? Sure the point rating would go up a bit if you could control the mission but you just SIT there and watch...No Thanks, Absouluty one of the WORST game I've ever played and I'm ashamed to admit I bought it

THis is one of the greatest games around, with alot of expandability. I even write missions for it.

1 out of 5 stars Starship Crash Creator   May 8, 2004

This game is a stinking pile of crap. The best part about this game is the name it doesn't deserve- Starship Creator Deluxe. And the fun pretty much ends there. This CD features what Simon and Schuster call customisation options (an add-on disk that is a re-rendering of ships that you wouldn't care to see anyway), which also wastes your time creating variations of 10 ships that are not that much different (or any more fun) than what's already in the game. While you can supposedly interact with your customisable crew (um...well by selecting them from a list), and design the most heavily armed ship in starfleet (keep in mind, you choose all of this from a very limited list of parts and it is more like an interactive encyclopedia than anything creative), your choices are controlled by a budget (which completely ignores the ST universe). Then participate in missions with your new ship to see what it feels like to pay good money just to find out you're an idiot for buying this game. It begins with an insult to the name "Star Trek" featuring a graphic display that is NOT 3D, NOT 2D, NOT REALTIME, NOT CONTROLLED, AND NOT FUN!!! I urge any and all individuals who have possession of this game to burn it at their first opportunity. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a -1. If you are a gaming masochist, then by all means, be my guest and observe what has to be the worst ST game/simulator I have ever seen. I've downloaded free ST games that were better than this worthless piece of trash. Please heed my words, "SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!" I would rate this game with "0" Stars but the rating system doesn't allow that. This game sucks.

4 out of 5 stars As good as I expected - no real complaints here.   April 4, 2002

I did a minimum amount of research before buying this game, so there were really no unpleasent surprises. It works just as the promotional information says it does.

I was aware that the game was out for a while before I got it. The newest version, "Warp II", is already out, but it doesn't offer as many ships, so I decided on the older version.

I am an on-line gamer, too, and a big Star Trek fan, but I bought this mostly for the "make your own starship" aspect and not the "gaming" aspect. As far as I am concerned, the starship creation part rocks and the gaming portion is a bonus way to see how your ship performs. If you buy, though, don't forget to get the patch on-line.

This version of the game allows you to import a digital picture of anyone you want and create a character out of them to crew your ships. That is very cool, and the only thing I really would want out of the new "Warp II" version is the ability to edit those pictures so that your subject appears to be in a Starfleet uniform -- if it works well. Not enough to make me want to run out and get it, so in the meantime I will enjoy "Creator Deluxe" and wait for "Warp II" to go to the bargain bin.

The only reason I did not give this game 5 stars is because I thought the producers could have put a little more into the graphics and animation. Maybe even a little more than "a little more", but all in all, I really liked it.

1 out of 5 stars Only OK   January 6, 2000

When I first heard of the idea for this game, i thought it would be interesting. What I didn't relize is there is no "cross-bredding" of ships. You can't have a Galaxy Saucer with an Akira body with Defiant Nacelles. Also, they have four presets for each part, and not a way for you to design a totally new saucer. As aforementioned, since there is no cross bredding, you cannot make a new class. And, one of the true low points of the game is, since you are an admiral, not a captian, you just send the ship out and your "capable" crew does the rest. No Control, no nothing.
