Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo also gives you the ability to automate the image-editing commands you use most often, saving you time and effort. For every one-click solution, there are also tools and features for manual fine-tuning, which are ideal for users with specific image-editing and correction needs. Absolute Best Value Some might measure the value of software by what it costs; others might focus on what can be derived by using it. In either case, Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI offers the best value in image-editing software available today. It contains a complete digital photography toolkit, which can help you edit, share, and manage your photos and create special photo projects. Based on user feedback, Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo has simplified the steps for the most common image-editing tasks, so that anyone can get to work within seconds of launching the application. The Organizer is a one-stop photo management center. | Photo Organization Built Right In There's much more to Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo than powerful image-editing tools and features. It's a multi-faceted digital photography suite that lets you effortlessly import, organize, and share their photos with the built-in Organizer. This one-stop photo management center takes the guesswork out of finding photos stored in your hard drive. You can search for images by filename, date, file type, or folder location. Thumbnail zooming makes finding a particular image even easier and faster. The ability to assign keywords, ratings, and other information to an image gives you even more ways to search for photos. The Organizer is customizable, so you have several options for integrating it into your workflow. In addition, EXIF-data editing and the ability to play and extract frames from video files make the Organizer an essential, time-saving tool for hobbyists and professionals alike. Essential Photo Tools For Everyday Jobs Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo is renowned for being user-friendly, and that's because user feedback has always played a huge role in the program's development. From requesting one-click automatic fixes that take the guesswork out of image correction to insisting on advanced tools to meet the exacting standards in digital photography, the user has spoken, and Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo has responded. - Crop Tool: In response to user feedback, the Crop tool has been enhanced to give users the exact dimensions they want in a snap. When the user selects an area of an image with the Crop tool, a floating toolbar appears below the selected area, allowing them to choose a predefined crop size or to rotate the selected crop area. The new floating Crop toolbar takes the guesswork out of image cropping.
- One-Step Fixes: Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI has several features that allow an image to be analyzed automatically and corrected with a single click. The One Step Photo Fix command automatically adjusts the color balance, contrast, clarity, and saturation of an image. The One Step Purple Fringe Fix command gets rid of the purple glow that sometimes appears around edges of objects under certain lighting conditions. And the One Step Noise Removal command identifies and eliminates the excess "noise" artifacts that are often seen in digital photos.
- Smart Photo Fix: The Smart Photo Fix analyzes a photo and suggests settings for auto-corrections of color, brightness, sharpness, and saturation--all in one easy step. Completely flexible, you can apply the one-click fix or experiment further by manually fine-tuning the settings. At any point, if you decide that you prefer the results of the initially suggested fix, you can quickly reapply the suggested settings. Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI gives you the flexibility to experiment freely with confidence, knowing that you can always revert to your starting point.

One click can change this man's shirt from beige to blue. | Editing Tools You Can't Find Anywhere Else Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo has a powerful toolset that can fix virtually any digital photo imperfection. If the problem stems from the quality of the image produced by the camera, you'll find a series of tools that offer easy, quick corrections. Or, if photo subjects don't look their best in the photo, Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo can spruce up their appearance. - Color Changer Tool: The Color Changer tool lets users easily change colors in their digital images to achieve more realistic colors. Rather than simply replacing a color, the Color Changer tool detects and analyzes variations in brightness caused by real-world illumination and reapplies the illumination to the new color to produce a realistic effect.
- Depth of Field Effect: Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI lets you draw attention to a specific area of an image. The new Depth of Field effect lets you apply focus to a region of a photo while applying an out-of-focus blur to the rest of the image. This allows you to easily replicate the look of the depth of field found in high-end cameras.

Do not upgrade if you have an older version November 21, 2006 S. Chen (nyc) 116 out of 125 found this review helpful
I've been a loyal PSP (paint shop pro) customer since the 4.x era. I really loved PSP and have used it up to my current version which is 9, or was, until I upgraded to XI. My opinion in a nutshell is: PSP XI is not only a step down, but a whole flight of stairs down from PSP 9. Why? First let me explain what I use PSP for: - Managing a large image library (over 70,000 images on a NAS) - Web design artwork / digital imaging for my business - Vectors, layers, lossless formats - Tablet work, filters - Personal photos on the side, with anal attention to contrast, saturation, color balance, etc. Given why I use PSP, PSP XI is worse than PSP 9 because: - It takes forever to start the program compared to PSP 9. - The browser window, which I use extensively, is very slow, unintuitive (at least for a PSP 9 user), and is impossible to use for large folders (> 1000 images) because it takes hours to load all the images. - The GUI in general is prettier, but a lot of the menus are in different places so it's basically like having to learn a whole new (okay, half new) program all over gain. Plus, the GUI seems to respond slower than with PSP 9. Personally, I'd rather have a fast, simple GUI than a slow, pretty GUI. Personally, the speed and browser issues killed the program for me, and are the main reasons I've gone back to PSP 9. I admit, I haven't used PSP XI for more than a few weeks, and I suppose if you had the patience, you could get used to the performance of PSP XI as well as learn the new menu placements and such. But I simply don't have the time or patience, given my schedule. My conclusion is that going from PSP 9 (or 8, which I still use) to PSP XI is like going from a lean, mean, imaging machine to a bells-and-whistles, dressed up package for people with a lot of free time. I'm not saying that it's bad for everyone; I'm just saying it's bad for me, as well as people who share similar concerns and preferences in their software.
Worst product and support out there ! September 25, 2006 Michael Silverman (United States) 41 out of 55 found this review helpful
I have been using Paint Shop Pro products for well over ten years. I started with version 3 and have upgraded through every version up to the current version XI. Jasc software, the original manaufacturer sold out to Corel after version 9. Version 9 was wonderful as every version before it was nearly perfect and sold at a very competative price. At version X, Corel took over from Jasc. I upgraded and was very disapointed in almost every aspect of their new program. Well it's been almost a year now and once version XI was released I purchased it hoping the problems with version X were corrected. Not only were the original flaws and bugs still in the latest version but major new bugs were there as well. The loading and transitioning through various folders to view and work on images have become extremely slow. While you await the program to load and then transition from one folder to another (you can wait up to 2 minutes for this to occur every time) if you click on anything at all, the system can lock up where restarting the program is the only fix. Calling Corel support is useless, they tell you this only happens the first time you start the program and will not happen afterward. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program at least three times with no improvement at all. I have a new PC that is used mostly for photography and it fast enough to handle any other program out there including video media and other photo software. My PC is not at fault as Corel likes to say each time I call. Corel, you have lost a long term user of this program and I am quite sure many more will follow suit. You have had almost two years at working with Paint Shop Pro and it is obvious that you can't resolve the bugs you have added to this once very fine program. The current version of Paint Shop Pro is absolute GARBAGE......DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this product.
New Version Is Complete Garbage October 24, 2006 Douglas Blatherwick 21 out of 28 found this review helpful
I too was excited about the new version of Paint Shop Pro. Then I installed it. It takes 2.5-6 minutes to start it with common operations that used to be done in real time taking seconds. Also the new layout of the dialog boxes add unnessicary extra clicks and moved useful functions like quick preview to inconvinient places. This together with it crashing 50% of the time I run it. Corel now admits that the program is really slow when you have a large image library and say they are working on a solution. If you are wondering what a large image collection is, I'm running at about 17 000 images, which Picasa handles quite fine. I would recommend trying to find Paint Shop Pro X right now and maybe upgrade to 12 when it comes out, but make sure to download the trial version when 12 comes out, because I agree, each version that Corel has come out with has been worse. Though I would call 10 a side step as they did add some good new features.
Worth the money! December 12, 2006 Maria (Nashville, TN) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I own both PSP XI and Adobe Photoshop CS. I paid 700.00 for Adobe and about 80.00 for PSP XI. I really like PSP for editing my photos and creating slides. It has a lot a great features that are MUCH easier and faster to perform in PSP than they are in Adobe PS. It is a little buggy in that it does shut itself down every now and then, but it opens right back up. I am a software application manager and developer and I can tell you NO software comes without bugs. The ones I have found here are not enough to keep me from loving this program. For the money, it is a great buy. I am sure Corel will have a patch for the shut down problem soon, as long as users report the problem. Bottom Line: If you wnat an affordable solution to edit and create fun and beautiful photos and slide shows, this product does very well!
Excellent Image Editing Program October 9, 2006 Laura Hawkins (Citrus Heights, CA) 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
This is my 5th version of Paint Shop Pro and this version is the best! I have been using Paint Shop Pro Photo XI for about one month now and do not understand the negative reviews of this program. I haven't had any problems at all! The times I have had to use Corel's support in the past they have helped fairly quickly and efficiently. I haven't had any problems at all working with large files. No freezing up, no slow processing. I understand some are still upset over the loss of Jasc, but Corel, IMO, is doing a great job with the software that Jasc so strongly stood behind. My main hobby is photo restoration and Paint Shop Pro has met my never-ending needs each time I use it. This newest version includes some new fun tools. The Time Machine gives a very cool effect to photos, realistically transforming them back in time with just one click. The new Organizer is invaluable. You can view, organize and even e-mail right from the application. No need to open up another program. You can also view video clips from your digital camera! The color changer tool works very well. It just takes a little practice. The results are so much better than having to carefully select the object, then floodfill THEN lower the opacity so the texture shows through. Very handy. All in all this is an excellent release from Corel. I highly recommend the upgrade. If you are a previous owner and if you are a beginner, you won't find a better image editor at this price! The Learning center makes learning the program easy. The tools are smart and powerful enough for the more experienced. It rivals the powerful Adobe Photoshop at hundreds of dollars less. You really can't go wrong. Don't let a few disgruntled people steer you away from a great program. You won't find better. Sincerely, Laura Hawkins
