not fun June 2, 2006 cynthia (Florida United States) 30 out of 31 found this review helpful
My 8 year old daughter begged for this for her birthday. She got the red and yellow colored one. It flattens because there are 2 suctions cups on the inside of the foam ball. When the suction cups got dirt on them it wouldnt stay flat very long, it popped up before you could throw it. When we wiped the suction cups off with just our fingers it stayed stuck flat for too long, we could throw this thing from one end of our property to the other and when it hit the ground it still stayed flat. If it pops up to a ball form while in your hand your fingers get pinched in the ball. IT didnt bother my adult fingers too much but my daughter has cried many times from getting her fingers pinched. She hates this toy. It really isnt that much fun. If you play hot potato with it whoever gets the ball when it pops WILL get pinched fingers. I dont recommemd it for younger kids and older kids probably wont find it much fun.
Don't Bother June 12, 2006 rshop2 (Milwaukee, WI) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
After much begging from my 8 year old son, I finally gave in and purchased it. After 5 minutes of play my son said "Let's take it back". It takes a lot of force to flatten it and it would not pop up in time to catch it as a ball. It also pinched fingers. Ouch! We did end up keeping it and sadly less than two weeks later one of the suction cups inside the ball broke off, so now we have a useless ball that pinches.
Lasted 1 week July 7, 2006 neverenuf (North Carolina, USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This product is poorly manufactured and designed. After just one week of average use the sides were failing. We tossed it out since a "phlat" that dosen't become a ball is not worth having.
Phlat ball review May 12, 2007 Anne Worth 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My son really liked the ball, and still has fun with it because he enjoys the surprise factor of the pop-up changing shape. But two little disks that hold the "phlat" shape together on the outside came off within weeks of purchase, so I can't rate it very highly for durability. He still enjoys it since it can hold the flat shape for a couple of seconds, but hey -- it should have lasted longer than that.
Boys 9+ LOVE this September 16, 2006 Jennifer P. (Tampa, FL United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this as a prize gift for my son's 9th birthday. As the boys were running around outside after the party, the phlat ball got opened. They threw it up onto the roof of the house and took turns scrambling to catch it rolling off the roof. They stood transfixed waiting for it to pop open into a ball and roll down. They loved this thing. It did get dirty at one point - the suction cups were not working. I simply washed them off in the sink & they were back to playing again. It kept them occupied for about an hour which is pretty good in my book. It was the envy of all the other boys who wished they had gotten this prize.
