First Impression Bowflex SelectTech 220 December 9, 2006 L. Tkach (NY, NY) 26 out of 29 found this review helpful
They come in a 55lb box. When you look inside there is a rubber handle with 20lb weights attached and a plastic stand which is 2-4 pounds. For a person who likes technological innovations this is one of the coolest designs. Both sides have number switches ranging from 2.5lb to 20lb. Each side turns separately so you can vary the weights on each side for each arm. So technically you can have 1.25lb (2.5lb setting on the left) on one side and 10lb (20lb setting on the right) on the other. If you have the same number on both sides, you get that exact number of pounds in the entire hand as the number switch indicates. This is definitely a great space saver. The selectable weights are 2.5 lb, 5 lb, 7.5 lb, 10 lb, 12.5 lb, 15 lb, 17.5 lb and 20 lb. So that's 8 sets of weights in one. The manual comes with instructions which list exercises you can do with these and the proper ways of doing them, and some tips. It also comes with a DVD which I haven't used yet, but it seems like it will provide the visual support to the manual. Manual states that these things are internally lubricated and the only maintenance you would normally need is to wipe your sweat off with a towel and maybe some mild soap. I got these free with a Bowflex Series 7 treadmill which I have yet to receive, but I am totally excited about getting these. I don't know if they are worth $200, but they are definitely motivating me to get to some exercising. Excellent product in my opinion!
AWESOME! September 26, 2006 B. Austin (charlotte, nc USA) 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
I have wanted these for years (or rather, the original powerblocks) but they were only available as a 50 pound set and were too large for me. I comprimised and bought a reebok set from target that only went up to 12.5 pounds but these were not as quick and easy to use plus they didn't go up high enough. Now they have made a set that only goes up to 20 pounds each and I immediately bought them. They are constructed very well and are very simple to change weights quickly. Now what used to take up a lot of space on my bonus room floor can fit unobtrusively in the corner. I also no longer have to worry about pulling out all my weights to do an exercise video, one set and I can adjust weights as I need them. I highly recommend the larger set for men. But this smaller set is perfect for most women.
Great Design, Great Execution March 25, 2007 Robert (Houston, TX United States) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
We've had these for about a year now. They are well designed, the construction is top-notch, and couldn't be easier to use. And these have an easy grip single bar unlike the other design on the market (the unnamed box design where your hands can easily get caught leading to a serious injury). I would recommend the stand to avoid too much bending. Overall, a very cost effective, space saving, well designed, well constructed option for your home gym.
L-O-V-E it !!!!!! April 1, 2007 S. Galiza (NYC) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
When you live in a tiny nyc apartment with 350 sqft, there is no other option. Form follows function here. It has comfortable grip handles and is easy to operate, not to mention it's got a slick design. My only complaint is that I didn't buy them earlier!
Great space saver May 10, 2007 Stephen C. Bello (Long Beach, CA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought these for my girlfriend and she really likes them. They save lots of room, and seem very sturdy. Sometimes they stick, and you need to pull hard to seperate the weights. But overall, her arms look great.
