Product Description Z-Nailer Sizing Approximate Thickness (at center) (at tip) Weight 3/8" 3/16" 1.75" 1 oz. 1/2" 5/16" 2" 1.5 oz. 5/8" 7/16" 2.125" 2 oz. Stacking Don't overdrive a stack. If one leg of a Z-Nailer is bent outward by hard driving in placement A, the cord can be pinched. Or if the other leg gets bent outward in placement B, the Z-Nailer can tip and slip past the angle piton. (All Leeper gear is made with the highest quality alloy steel, heat treated to have great strength, but not to be dangerously brittle. It will bend before it breaks.) Inspect a Z-Nailer after it has been driven hard in a stack. Compare its two angles or compare it with another Z-Nailer. Discard any Z-Nailer with a visibly splayed leg, or use only its other channel (other configuration A or B above) for stacking. But there is no reason to drive a Z-Nailer that hard. Because of the ideal sling attachment point, Z-Nailers provide whatever strength a stack is able to give, without hard driving. It is more important to get the sling attachment into the crack as close as possible to where the rock grips the stack. Also use any natural crack irregularities -- like you would with a chock.
