The Softouch microtip pruning snip from Fiskars is designed to snip away delicate tips of flowers and foliage while giving you a comfortable grip and fit. This floral snip is about 5 inches long, has a Softouch ergonomic handle with a comfortable black grip around plastic construction, and fits well in small- to medium-size hands. The 1-1/2-inch blade is made of rust-resistant stainless steel. It is quite sharp and uses Fiskars's microtip blade design for precision in trimming and shaping flowers and small plants. 5 out of 5 stars Light, Comfortable, Affordable   April 4, 2002

When my sister gave me these snippers, my first reaction was that they were too lightweight to be useful. Was I wrong! I grow a lot of roses, and this tool has become invaluable for deadheading. It's also great for cutting daffodils, tulips and narcissus for floral arrangements. It's light enough for me to carry whenever I walk around the garden. Don't be tempted to cut any woody stems; it's strictly designed for deadheading and pliable green stems.

5 out of 5 stars I have stopped deadheading with my fingers!   June 16, 2000

I love my micro tip, and I use it every day for deadheading and cutting flowers. I used to deadhead my flowers with my fingers, and get green stuff under my fingernails (ugh!). I was right when I thought this would fill a void in my garden tool collection. The tip is very sharp, and it is very comfortable. It has an easy to use lock, which is handy to have around children.

1 out of 5 stars Way too small   April 5, 2002

This product was featured as Pruning Snips. When the package arrived, it was called "Floral Snip". It is the size of children's scissors and nowhere on the packaging is "Pruning" mentioned. Rather, "deadheading flowers", "flower gathering" and "houseplant care". I have returned them because I wanted pruning shears for my garden work. These were completely inappropriate for that task.

5 out of 5 stars Durable yet light   September 7, 2005

This is the 2nd pair I've owned and these little snips last. The first pair lasted 5 years and are still in use. They're used daily at the garden center where I work and are the favorite tool of all my co-workers. The snips are durable enough to trim everything from bedding plants to hanging baskets to shrubs (butterfly bushes) yet light and responsive enough to be easily handled by those of us with joint problems. The Fiskars small size makes it easy to trim out even the most densely overgrown plants and make deadheading Petunias a breeze. I've tried other snips by various manufacturers and none have worked as well as these. The others have been too bulky, too heavy, too large for delicate trims and/or too tight in the hinge to be used comfortably. Over all the Fiskars Micro-snips are the perfect tool to clean up both houseplants and garden beds.

5 out of 5 stars A long-lasting bargain!   November 29, 2007

Received these small, light snippers by Fiskars as a gift years ago, and would have never guessed that they would still be serviceable years later. They have proven to be far more rugged than expected, and though showing their age now, the stainless steel blades have maintained a surprising amount of sharpness.

Must note that it's the handles of these things that are the best part. The cushioned grips are more ergonomic and better designed for comfort than so many gardening snippers and cutters. Add to that, they're actually ambidextrous... left-handed people who pick up mine are amazed how well they fit the hand. And the blades have a convenient lock, one that actually works.

Have never had small snippers last as long as these. Will probably have to replace them in the next year or so, but as they've been so reliable and since the price is so good, won't even think twice about it. Giving them 5-stars for quality, versatility, longevity and price.
