5 out of 5 stars Great Filters   January 2, 2007

This was my first set of filters when I started taking photographs because I love taking landscapes. The package includes the filter holder for the Cokin P-Series, the P037 warming red filter, the P123 gradual blue filter, and the P197 sunset fliter.

The warming red filter is really more for use with portraits and such pictures, but it also works well out in nature, bringing some color back into bland overcast landscapes. I have used it in both situations, and while it is a little darker than I would like (I bought the P026 because of this) for portraits, it does the job.

The gradual blue is possible my most used filter of all time. I do have the neutral density gradual grays, which darken the sky and keep the ground lighter, but the graudal blue really just looks better because of the color it adds to the pictures. You cannot take summer photographs without a gradual filter, and this one will make people stop and take a second look.

The sunset filter is an interesting and great filter. It is a gradual filter, technicaly, but it never ful fades out from it's red orange, the whole filter has a sunset feel to it, which really does create a wonderful looking sunset scene. It you are looking for just a redish or orange gradual filter, you make want to look at cokin tabacco grads.

Don't forget that you need to purchase a ring adapter in order to use these filters. You will need to purchase one for every different size lens you have. Usually, the front screw size, where you are putting the filter, is printed right there on the lens. If you need more help with this, check out Cokin's website. It has pictures and explanations if you need them.

I reccomend all Cokin's filters. They have severed me well, and I don't know what I would do without them.
