Operation fans will recognize Cavity Sam, who has the same ruddy nose ready to buzz if you accidentally bump the tweezers against a niche's metal edge. Joining the ranks of the old "Funatomy" ailments like Funny Bone, Broken Heart, and Spare Ribs, the board also includes some updated woes such as Joystick Wrist and Texting Thumb for a total of 15 parts. The tweezers are conveniently connected to the frame and have a special slot to begin and end each turn. The 15 Doctor Cards picture the parts to be removed, and the games are easily selected by slipping one of four plastic "sliders" into the illuminated area at the top. The sliders help keep score, let you know whose turn it is, and add an exciting red-light-flashing urgency. A game can be ended at any time by simply removing the slider, and the winner's number will flash based on the points so far. When not in use, all the small parts can be neatly stowed in a built-in, snap-shut container on the board. In fact, the whole game folds up into a stylish First Aid-looking kit made of white durable plastic, featuring convenient indented carrying handles and two snap-shut latches to keep the pieces inside. To help save on batteries, the game automatically shuts off after one minute when the slider is removed, or after five minutes if the slider is left in place. 4 Fun Games in 1: Trial Run of Operation
Operation Rescue Kit is fairly simple to set up by using a Phillips-head screwdriver to open the back and inserting three AA batteries (not included). The instructions for each of the four games are straightforward, although younger players will probably need help the first time. The player number markers look like they fit on top of the game slider area, but they don't belong there and can be a little tricky to remove. The game's sound effects are very appealing, and include variations such as the heartbeat in "More Oxygen Please" and the siren in "Specialist Help" to keep it interesting. The games "Speed It Up" and "Rush Job" are played against the clock with penalties (but no loss of turn) from the buzzer. Players of the old version may miss the almost shocking buzzer and vibration, but young, modern players will probably appreciate the less daunting, gentler buzzer sound. Occasionally, the game didn't register slight bumps from the tweezers, making it more forgiving for younger players but perhaps a little less challenging for the more advanced. The carrying case works great--the Doctor Cards slide around a bit, but that's all. With the buzzer, the moving lights, and the sound effects, Operation Rescue Kit gets the adrenaline pumping and the players excited, and offers enough variation and level adjustments to keep players of all ages engaged.  Family fun in a classic game with a new twist. November 15, 2007

I got this game for my 4 kids after some friends and I were talking about games we used to play as kids. I have 4 kids ages 4-10. When I first saw the rescue unit version of the game I thought it looks like a neat set up with the Dr's carrying case. If you're a parent like me you know how fast games go out the window because the younger ones lose small pieces... so I thought the case was a nice touch.
Even when you open the box you notice all the new parts like a time bar and a pump on the upper left hand side of the game. Also the construction is very durable and sits sold on the floor.
After putting in batteries we were ready to go. The look on the kid's faces was priceless. The setup looks so unconventional than any other game we play as a family. Within less than 5 minutes I read the rules and we got started. Unlike the old school version the rescue unit had all kinds of challenges! There is a timer that replicates the sound of a heart monitor. There's a pump you need to pump to keep the heart beat going on some challenges. All kinds of new fun variables to keep the game upbeat and interesting.
The sound of silence as each kid took their turn was so suspenseful! The outburst when the buzzer went off was so fun! When someone would complete some of the harder challenges we were all literally high 5 ing and all applauding. The whole experience was too much fun!!!!
I highly recommend this game to any family with more than 1 child or if you have a house hold with lots of kids coming and going. not only do you get the confidence of buying a time tested classic that offers educational value about learning parts of the body but you also get a guaranteed fun suspenseful gaming experience for the whole family.
If you have half as much as fun as we did then you'll be very satisfied!

I never played the original operation, but Operation rescue unit is great fun! I have 4 children, ages 11, 9, 7, and 2. It's nice to find a game that they can all play together. My 2 year old of course doesn't understand the rules but he quite enjoys trying to pick up the pieces withbthe tweezers and he loves the buzzer and light up nose! I also enjoy playing this game and with 4 different game choices and 3 skill levels I doubt this game will get boring anytime soon.

A great new look, and it is a lot more fun, and I actually enjoy playin

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 10-year old. Unfortunately parts broke as they were being taken out of the packaging, the game is still playable but would be better if all pieces were intact. A fun game, but cheaply made.

My kids have loved this game and get a lot of laughs of out when they play. I love this new version because it lets you select the level of your child which really helps when you have all ages of kids playing it. I recommend this game to everyone!
