Sorely DISAPPOINTED!!! December 25, 2007 Bryan Duggan 23 out of 70 found this review helpful
As far as I'm concerned, this is a downgrade.... I cannot believe the glowing reviews this thing has gotten, here are the OBVIOUS FAULTS: - Construction is on par with a happy meal toy - The cheap plastic is scratching already and I've had it 8 hours - Every single finger print shows up on the shiny cheap plastic and it immediately looks dirty... - Screen is no longer integrated into the housing so there's a seam that you can put your fingernail in, dust should have no trouble getting in - No tv out cable included despite being it's biggest new "feature" - No freakin' headphones, are ya kidding me?!?!?! I never in a million years thought I'd be so disappointed in an "upgrade". Anyone know where I can buy the old PSP??? BOO SONY!!!
PSP 2000 disappointing upgrade December 5, 2007 Peter M. Chin 13 out of 18 found this review helpful
I have both the psp & the psp 2000. The concept is good for a lighter and better psp, but this however falls short. The negatives for me are: 1. UMD door is flimsy compared to the original, despite some saying otherwise. 2. The finish at the back is glossy and is a finger print magnet and it is not as solid as the original. Placing the psp 2000 on a table will more likely scratch the finish. 3. General feel is cheaper that the original. 4. Speed is not much faster. The additional memory and other features etc. for me it is good but not a serious upgrade. I received the product today and will be selling the psp 2000. My current psp is still like new, for me the product must be powerful under the skin but the feel & look of the product must also match. Like the original psp & also my PS3.
It's what the PSP should have been to begin with... October 11, 2007 Gambit!!! 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
PSP 2000 Console - Piano Black- This system has everything that the original PSP system has with added colors for the background, reduced weight, a slimmer design with a changed (for the best) placement for some ports and buttons, more internal memory for faster loading times, redesigned buttons for easier gameplay and a new finish that is harder to smudge and finger-print. It is the exact same price as the original system but it is essentially so much more. Worth every penny. PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack - Ice Silver - Exact same as mentioned above, except it is a really cool Ice Silver color. This is the system that is included with the Daxter/Family Guy/1GB Memory Stick bundle. It's $199.99, which is cheaper than what just the system and the 1GB memory stick are worth together. If you don't like either the game and/or the UMD that come with it, then sell them! You still get a kick-balls system and a 1GB memory stick! This is easily the best deal of the three! Sony PSP Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron Entertainment Pack - Ceramic White - Same system as the previous two, but it is Ceramic White and comes with a really great Star Wars game. That's it, though. No memory stick or UMD movie. Just Battlefront (would have been better if it were only $179.99 or even $189.99). If you like Star Wars and need a PSP (especially with that cool-balls Darth Vader helmet picture on the back), this is a no brainer! Choose whichever bundle (or not) suits you best!
PSP Slim and Lite Review October 3, 2007 Eric Shoriak 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
To begin, I have very little experience with the first model PSP. Mind you I have pretty good experience with every other hand held though. Anyways, I gotta say this machine is simply amazing. The graphics are somewhere in between the Sega Dreamcast and PS2, which is leaps and bounds better than Nintendo's competing hand held the DS. Also, now that the system has been out for quite some time, the PSP has a large library of video games and UMD's which is something it couldn't offer at launch. In addition, the unit has mp3, video playback and photo viewing capabilities. Combine that together and you are likely to never be bored again. The system does a few drawbacks though. The entire PSP is a magnet for fingerprints and dust, it shows up everywhere and quite frequently. The battery can give you about 4 hours if you play games or watch video and I've heard you can boost it to 10 hours if you mostly listen to mp3s. Though not much of a drawback if you have a Sony digital camera, you need to buy a memory stick pro duo memory card to save any data on it. Not too many drawbacks, but they are noteworthy. Basically this system is the best portable entertainment package available. Forget an Ipod Video, Zune or whatever, this thing can take you to better places. It is worth noting that there are not any accessories designed for the Slim and Lite PSP as of October 3, 2007, so if you do buy one keep that in mind.
Worth the money ! October 25, 2007 VC (MA, United States) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Enough good things have been said about this PSP2001 (aka PSP slim and lite) Just to emphasize Pros: - Top notch screen - Playing Madden on this and my xbox felt the same - Extremely easy controls (well built buttons) - Light weight (won't feel the weight when playing for long hours) - Battery hardly used when on sleep mode, I have put this on sleep for days and then continued my game from where I left! - Well designed - Video quality is amazing - Video podcast download over the wireless is a GREAT add-on. I watch CNN highlights on this. - Updating firmware was easier than eating a muffin ! Cons: - None that I know of ! - A slight disappointment, if I may, I bought the component cable to connect to my 51" TV. The video quality of the podcasts was unbelievably clear. Now, I knew that the game won't use the entire TV screen (for those who don't know, the game will use about 60-70% of your TV screen). But the quality of the game video was bad, in fact Madden looked terrible on the TV! That is something I did not expect from PSP. All-in-all, money well spent on the console. I recommend this to anyone, any age, who would like have mobility but still be able to play their Madden etc. as well as get bit more out of the console with video podcast downloads over the air or a music player or a 'OK' web browser or location free client or whatever
