Durability in question May 19, 2003 brian cowell (fort bragg, ca. United States) 39 out of 45 found this review helpful
Immediately after getting this set, I tried using the 1/4" straight bit on a piece of particle board. While cutting a 3/8" deep groove, the bit quickly broke. What was the reason? (1)Is particle board too tough for this bit? (2)Are 1/4" shanks in general, too light-duty for this application? (3 Are these router bits made of Pot-metal?Maybe I got what I paid for:(
I love this set! April 14, 2004 glen schmidt (CA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I read the other review and had to say that my set has preformed flawless. Ran 200 Board feet of oak trim. No problem never burned once. Box was damaged in shipping and the company sent out a new one in 2days!
Nice set and they are lasting real well October 13, 2005 mr tool shop (Kansas) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I choose this set over the hickoy set at home depot becase the price was less and it has better bits with more bearing options. I made trim, and a counter top. I will use them for making a sign next. I loaned them to my friend and he bought his own set.
Some of the bits are ok. December 7, 2006 Jack (NMI) Stecker 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Some of the bits appear to be ok. Un fortunately when I first opened the wood case one of the wood mounts had broken free and a bunch of bits were rattling around in the box. That is bad for the sharp edges. The 1/4" bit broke after about an hours use. Not to good. Spend a little more and get a good set if you plan on using it much.
Good set for the "handyman"! June 6, 2006 Jeffrey Bregg (Budd Lake, nj) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought my set of router bits about a year and a half ago. I find them to be very good for my purposes (I have a home shop and I'm not a pro by any stretch of the imagination). I deffinetly would buy a second set when this one wears out (a few years from now). If you use your router all the time (like a pro) then I would think about a more expensive set.
