Just received my new Peerless stand - it's great! Easy to assemble, good quality and looks nice. Well worth the $.

I bought this stand from Amazon because of price and free shipping (it turned out cheaper than buying it from Costco.)
I am using it in my bedroom with Astar 27 inch LCD (it looks exactly like the picture here). The stand came very quickly, I assembled it in less than 20 min. I could have assembled it faster but it is pretty heavy, so to turn it around (and you might need to flip it a couple times during assembly) I had to take my time.
It truly hides all the wires in it, including power cables, and even dvi/hdmi cables. The adjustable shelf in my case holds 2 dvd players and I could easily add another item, be it a vcr, dvd-player, a cable or a satellite box.
Please note that the stand is rather heavy so you need to have some strength in you to turn it around during assembly. I think it should easily hold up to 42 inch plasma or lcd.
