Favorite hummingbird feeder March 25, 2007 A. Cooper (Texas) 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
I used this feeder last season, and now I am getting a second one to hang nearby. It's the best feeder I've ever used (and I think I've tried them all!) for this reason: it is a cinch to clean. The metal flowers are part of the metal base, which screws off easily. You just wash and go! There are no weird angles to try and get a brush into, or thick plastic flowers that attract black gunk and won't let it go. And the hummers love it! If you have to choose one feeder this season, this is the one I recommend.
nice while it lasted April 16, 2005 Momala (midwest) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
This feeder was great the first year, but the screw in connection cracked and leaked after one season
Great feeder March 11, 2008 A. Skinner (Phoenix,AZ USA) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I am ordering my second feeder today. I've been using the same one for 3 years now year round, because we have hummers all year long in Phoenix. It is still in perfect condition. I like this one because the parts are mostly metal, and the sun is brutal here on anything plastic. The only problem I've had with it is aligning the bottom correctly so the nectar doesn't leak out. I've mastered it now, so it's not a problem. To avoid breaking the neck off of the jar, I soak the unit in warm water for a few minutes before unscrewing. I'm also very careful not to over tighten. I fill it only half way, as the birds don't like the food if it's over a few days old, especially in warm weather. Here is a trick for cleaning your feeder. Put about 3 Tbls. of white vinegar mixed with two cups of water in the feeder. Add about 1/2 cup of white uncooked rice. (I use a funnel) and shake. The friction from the rice will clean even the dark mold off of the inside. Rinse well before filling.
It only lasted one season... July 12, 2007 Michelle Berkey (pa usa) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this product last year for the Hummingbirds and it worked great at first but with in months it began to rust out and now the glass has broken off where it screws into the dispenser. Looks great for display but not the best feeder - have thrown it away since it is not repairable.
Beautiful but flawed February 11, 2008 Amazon Cat 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This was my first feeder. I bought it based on looks and the overall good ratings. I had two birds visiting it in no time. Unfortunately I don't have a garden to attract more so they didn't go through the nectar very fast, and I had to toss 2/3. This feeder has a narrow opening making it challenging to clean. First time I went to clean it, I discovered a crack in the neck, that wasn't there the first time I filled it up. I wont be putting this back up for fear that the bottom half is going to break off completely.
