Convenient, easy-to-use spreader January 2, 2006 skst (Arlington Hts., IL USA) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
I prefer drop spreaders like these to broadcast spreaders because I feel they're more accurate. This spreader is easy to assemble--no tools necessary. You control the coverage by turning a dial on the central cable. It's marked from one to eighteen, so it takes a little guesswork to get the setting you want. The unit's light enough that even my eight-year-old can use it (as long as I don't fill it up all the way). After each use, I simply hose it off, let it dry, fold it up, and hang it on my garage wall. It takes up remarkably little room on the wall, about two foot square.
Good Product that can be had @ Wal Mart for $19.99 vs. $29.99 @ Amazon March 9, 2008 F.G. (Nashville) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am happy with the product but I was disappointed to find out that Wal Mart is selling the same thing for $10 less. :(
Nice little spreader May 30, 2007 just some guy (PA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this spreader to use in a small area and it does the job nicely. Not exactly sure why some people that reviewed this item said that the directions were difficult. Outside of someone physically coming out to put it together for you, it really doesn't get any easier to do.
Scotts Drop Spreader dropped it on this one July 12, 2008 Richard C. Terrien 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When one hears the name Scotts, I automatically think "Quality". After buying the Scotts Accugreen 1000 Drop Spreader my thinking has changed. When the spreader is fully loaded with fertilizer, the wheel that turns the feeder mechanism in the hopper slides or skips on the lawn (rubber on the wheels probably would help) plus the handle bends when pushing the spreader (a T-Handle with channel iron would be sturdier). I had a drop spreader from another brand that lasted 22 years with no problems. This Scott spreader just appears to use cheap materials. Unfortunately, I bought this on-line and couldn't check out the product in person and relied on the "Name Brand". You'll be better off going to Wal Mart and checking out the off brand name spreaders there. Oh well, live and learn.

Came with a broken spring; but I replaced the spring from an older model. Works ok now.
