Product Description IN or OUT Temp Sensor Weather Resistant Dimensions: Sensor: 5.5" x 1.625" x 1" Specifications: Power requirements: 2 "AA" Alkaline batteries
Amazon.com Review Many modern homes have up-to-date clocks or mini weather stations that depend on radio-transmitted data to stay calibrated and current. The La Crosse TX6U works outdoors by sensing temperature and transmitting that information to an indoor station. It can transmit to a base up to 80 feet away. The TX6U can be added to augment information coming to La Crosse units already in operation. Remove batteries from base units first and activate sensors; then replace batteries in base units and press no buttons until a display appears. Multiple sensors can be assigned a number so that it will be clear which information from which sensor is displayed. The TX6U operates on two AA batteries. Its housing is made of durable, neutral-tone plastic. The sensor works with all La Crosse weather clocks and stations except the Professional Weather Center Series: WS-2010, WS-2210, WS-2310, WS-2315 and WS-2510. For options in wall mounting, two screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. The TX6U measures 5-1/2 by 1-1/2 by 1 inch. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its sensors. Each sensor comes with a detailed instruction sheet. --Garland Withers

Not designed for accuracy March 19, 2005 P. Stadler (Wisconsin) 38 out of 42 found this review helpful
The specs on this unit are +/- 2 degrees "under normal conditions". That probably means "at room temperature." At winter temps, freezing and below, this unit is over 5 degrees off. La Crosse more or less admits to this on their web site. The saddest thing is that the LaCrosse base stations display outside temperatures to 1/10th of a degree - for a sensor that is +/- 2 degrees at best and generally not even that close.
High failure rate August 28, 2005 Jeffrey C. Gould (St. Paul, MN) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
Very disappointed with the lifespan of the LaCrosse remote sensor. The original I received with the weather station failed after four months, and a replacement I purchased lasted about as long. I like my LaCrosse weather station a lot and have had no problems with the main unit, but I don't want to purchase a new remote unit three or four times a year.
What's the temp? March 12, 2006 D. Christie (Vermont, United States) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
The sensor works well and so far the batteries have lasted really well considering they are in the cold all day long. The only concern or warning I have is NOT to put the batteries in backwards. Most electronic devices withstand that without permanent damage. Not this device. Be carefull putting the batteries in! Otherwise a good product.
works like a charm September 6, 2005 Jat Monson 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I had to replace the original sensor b/c the double-sided tape did not hold up to the painted surface of my home. It was tucked under the roof and safe from the elements but did not hold. It hit the ground from approx 8' up and the dog chomped on it a bit. It was still intact with some bite marks but did not function. This time I used both the tape and the screws and it has held up well. Time will tell but I expect it to work as well as it has for my parents for some time.
Unreliable, Short-Lived November 3, 2006 James A. Gorton (Pasadena, CA USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This was the 3rd of three remotes I've had linked to a La Crosse clock/thermometer unit. The first fell and broke, but the second and third units simply failed. While they worked, the range on the units was very poor. I had difficulty at times in getting a signal within 8 ft. through a window in line of sight with the remote. As nice as it is to have a remote temperature sensor, La Crosse doesn't seem to be able to provide reliable products for that purpose.
