Fantastic gas mower alternative! May 20, 2008 C. P. Lewis (Raymore, MO) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Although, I don't own this exact brand/model. I own the "Task Force" version sold at Lowe's. However, I'm 99% positive these are the exact same just different marketing brands, but made by the same company...Great States Corp/American Lawn Mower Company. Anyhow, there are far too many similarities include styling, weight and prices for them to not be the same...so that's my caveat. But in general, I have a lawn mower VERY similar to this one. I love it! The bag attachment fits great into the paper yard waste bags that I use making that part easier, although the smaller opening than what I'm used to makes it a little harder to get the grass out. Very quiet, sounds like a vacuum cleaner or leaf blower than a traditional lawn mower. The only downside is the power cord...but with practice and technique that can be overcome. IF, you can find a cordless that will hold a charge for your yard great...otherwise, this is the mower for you...big (20"), quiet, low maintenance (cleaning and blade sharpening as with gas mowers, but not the small engine mess), and very light and maneuverable. This is also great for taller people. I'm 6'3" and the handle (adjustable heights) comes up to my belly and makes it very easy to use. Would definitely buy again.
Not worth the price... July 11, 2008 R. Gardner 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Earthwise 20-Inch 12 Amp Electric 3-in-1 Lawn Mower with Grass Bag #50020 I wanted to like this mower, but... Unfortunately it's too heavy and way underpowered. I was tempted by the large (20") base and this is a nice feature; just not nice enough. If you're mowing anything but a flat/level field and thin grass, this machine will simply wear you out. I highly recommend the Black & Decker 18-Inch 9 Amp Electric Mulching Mower #MM275 as a smart alternative. It's light weight and powerful.
Do you have doubts about an "electric" lawn mower? July 19, 2008 Wayne Scott (Atlantic Beach, Florida) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Maybe you think it's no more than a kitchen appliance with delusions of grandeur. Well, electricity is not just for kitchen appliances and vacuum cleaners anymore ... I was tired of repeated trips to the repair shop with my gas mower, so I kicked it to the curb. Literally. I don't need a Cadillac mower for my Mini-Cooper lawn. In addition to the ease of plug in, turn on, and go ... What I like: - Light weight. Light enough to manuever with one hand while the other hand tends the cord on turns. ALSO, this holds easily going across an incline, rather than up, which is hard on the lower back, or down, which is hazardous. - Height adjustment is spring-loaded, and counter-balanced just right. Raising and lowering cutting height is quick and easy. It lowers in a snap from preferred lawn cutting height to its lowest setting for grass or leaves on the drive or street, which quickly turn to near dust for ease of blow-off. - It mulches great across the lawn; much, much better than the last 2 gas mowers I've owned. That's probably more due to design than power source -- but the mulching is the point. The clippings from one week's growth just disappear. And the St. Augustine grass common here in Florida doesn't mulch as easily as the bluegrass of Kentucky, as memory serves. - A metal cutting deck, rather than the plastic offerings from a couple of competitors. I can't speak to how well the bag works; haven't tried it. Bagging is a waste of time, effort, and fertilizer, imho ... Drawbacks: - uhhh ... It doesn't make enough noise to wake the neighbors. (Long story ...) The padding on the handle is not durable. Not at all. But I see some padded bicycle handlebar tape in its future.
Good mower, bag useless May 27, 2008 Jennifer D. Patterson (Central WA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased this mower so I would not have to maintain a gas powered and not have to worry about running to the gas station if I wanted to mow. It is very lightweight, making it easy to maneuver and push. It fits the bill as far as cutting. BUT, the bag is basrically useless. There is a hump right inside the bag where cut grass is supposed to enter it, making it impossible for cut grass to actually go into the bag. Also, the hole is so small, you have to grab handfuls of grass out of the bag to empty it. I live in a windy area, so if I use the mulching attachment, at least I don't have to rake the remnants left on the ground.
great mulcher, terrible bagger June 7, 2008 Buster (connecticut, United States) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
i have the homelite version of this mower. Its a very solid mulching mower, big thumbs up But its a really lousy bagging mower, the bag entrance gets plugged up with grass every 20 feet. beware!
