I probably should have bought one of these sooner June 2, 2005 T. Peterson (Gilbert, AZ USA) 32 out of 34 found this review helpful
I began some remodeling for a family member that involved removing some old corrugated fiberglass roofing that had dry rotted from eccessive sun exposure. As the fiberglass broke I could see the tiny dust particles floating in the air and knew I was breathing this stuff in. I then decided to buy this respirator because of the quick latch feature. The quick-latch turns out to be very useful because when unlatched, the respirator drops down and hangs under your chin allowing you to take a break and breath normally. This is much more comfortable to wear than a white dust mask. It did tend to loosen up on me over time but could be easily retightened by pulling the straps. Wearing this I didn't think twice about ripping out the rest of the fiberglass roofing and other materials.
This is a good respirator, and you should shave your face if you plan to use it March 5, 2007 David Beauchamp (Seattle, WA USA) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
You can get a clean seal with this respirator really easily, but not with a beard, not even a goatee, not even once it's tightly trimmed. I tried it all. For me the will to fix our bathroon ceiling trumped the hairs dancing around my mouth and chin, at least temporarily, thus I shaved. Post shave this thing is airtight and I am comfortable. The venerated goatee will grow back, lungs don't. The canisters cover most nasty stuff you may encounter, up to and including mold and asbestos. Be smart: wear a long sleeve shirt, gloves, airtight eyewear, and earplugs.
Quicklatch Respirator October 23, 2005 S. Thomas 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
The product is comfortable to wear and easy to use with the quick release for free breathing. The P-100 canister filters it is shipped with will filter 0.035 microns which should handle most harmful particulates one could breathe in this day and age.
Good enough to keep you from being dumb December 24, 2006 Elijah Rubin (california) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I quit smoking and decided I should start being smarter all around so I got this respirator for my work as a kitchen remodeler/cabinet refacer. I wanted one that would deal with the dust and the glue fumes. I have had masks like this before when working with insulation and areas with asbestos present, but thought the drop design would keep me "honest" when on and off was more frequent. It does. The fact is this mask is about as un/comfortable as you would imagine, but the easy off and on feature lets your face relax whenever you get a moment. This reduces fatigue and the hassle of remembering where you set it just a second ago as well as making it worth the trouble for those "it will just be a second" apps. Wearing it for a long time is not like a facial massage--it has to seal against your face after all--but it's not torture like some others either. It works with my facial hair and doesn't interfere with glasses, and since it fits doesn't fog up the glasses either. I give it 5 because even though it is imperfect it stops me from trying to convince myself that staying out of the sunbeams keeps me from breathing all that airborne dust you can see floating in the light. i.e. I use it.
Good Mask February 2, 2007 Dan Billings (Louisville, Kentucky) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I like this mask. It filters out fine dust. It does not cause my glasses to fog up when I exhale. It is easy to adjust the fit, and the quick release works as it should. Condensation inside of the rubber face mask part is a problem, but, I wipe it clean with a bandana before it builds up too much.
