This product works amazingly well!! October 26, 2007 Christopher Fletcher (Berkshires MA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When we moved into our current 100-year-old house almost 14 years ago, sitting on top of our gas furnace was a weird contraption that looked like it had more in connection with a steam train than a modern heating plant. I thought it was a relic from the original builders. Or that it had been installed by someone back in the '60s - the name Magic Heat is in a typeface from the Groovy days, long gone. But boy were we in for a treat! Our basement isn't heated - like most homes of its era, the furnace was "supposed" to keep the area warm. Maybe back in the days of shoveling coal into an inefficient boiler, it could do the trick. But nowadays, with more efficient and compact systems, a modern boiler loses less heat due to improved insulation. Hence, doing laundry or using the workroom in the winter might have meant needing a sweater on trips to the basement. Our Magic Heat blower has performed wonderfully - fully automatic, it kicks on when the flue hits a preset temperature, and recycling otherwise-lost heat, keeps the basement nice and toasty. And that's in a basement measuring almost 1,000 sq! Plus, it runs quieter than one would think. Two extra benefits can be derived from the use of these blowers: 1. Because the heat is not sent up the flue, your chimney will last longer. 2. You could theoretically run a flue horizontally from the blower face to another area - as long as you could occasionally access the cleaning rod. Again, I 'warmly' recommend the Magic Heat blower reclaimer to anyone who enjoys saving money - or doesnt want to lose it up the chimney.

I bought this for a gift and the recipients absolutely love it. The ease of installation and easy operation are awesome. There was an instant effect with the heating of their home. This is a terrific product if your thinking about it, GET IT, they are worth every penny.

Hooked up to a boiler in my garage, not sure if manufacturer would recommend, but used two T's to install in parallel with flue pipe (damper in flue pipe to control amount of gas through Magic Heat Reclaimer). It's been in operation for two weeks and definitely reclaims heat that would be lost up the flue. And the parallel hook-up gives me a little control. Really appreciate products that do what they're advertised to do. Also if your hook-up allows and you're (or a friend) is a handy "welder / cutter" 6" Well Casing makes a perfect fit and solid mounting for a 6" unit. Only down side encountered could be a slight smoke odor emitted at cleaning slider, but was very minimal.
