Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Place this heater fan in the center of the room to take advantage of the 360 degrees surround heating. You can also set the heater to front only to focus the heat in one area. The 360 degree surround heating design makes this a perfect unit to place in the middle of the room to help keep everyone comfortable. This heater features an adjustable thermostat and two heat settings for personal comfort control. The adjustable thermostat maintains the desired room temperature and the extra-long power cord lets you place the unit where you need it most. Safety features include a child-resistant power control, a tip-over switch that disables the unit in the event that it is tipped over, flame resistant plastic and overheat protection. This model also offers the option of 180 degree, or front-only, heating for placement along the wall. Additional safety features include a back-up thermal circuit breaker, motor thermal cut-off fuse and auto-off hi-limit switch. Tip-over switch

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for small, enclosed   February 18, 2005

Pros:
Small footprint
Heating element well hidden inside the machine
Redundant safety features
Relatively quiet
Competitively priced

Cons:
Thermostat is not as accurate as I like
Not good for "spot" heating, like warming up just the rocking chair area when watching TV.

This heater suits best for heating up small, enclosed spaces (about 14x14sq.ft.). I use it in my bedroom and the result is great.

The air outlet velocity is low and non vectorized by design. It relies on low velocity, de-facto free, convection as a prime source of heat transfer. This mode of heating carries an advantage for not drying skin (Example, a typical hot-air blowing heater acts like a hair dryer!), and heat very evenly within a small area. Thus make this a bad choice for "spot" heating.

Advice the last person who gave this machine a bad rating. You are like complaining about a Toyota Corolla not able to reach 200mph. Please spend some money to insulate the place and buy a bigger heater, or two for your application.

The unit was solidly built, has overheat and tip-over sensor, and the heating element was located in a remote location and it's impossible to touch. Therefore, it scores really high on safety. However, please use common sense when using this unit (keep the unit away from small children, moisture, water, drapery...)

The unit uses a "Mechanical" thermostat and it does not control the room's temperature very well. It would be better for Honeywell to change it to a digital thermostat.

Conclusion: Use it for what it's best for (small, enclosed space or 14x14 sq.ft.), and you will not be dissappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Does what I need it to   April 2, 2006

This little unit works very well in my bedroom and heats up very quickly just on the low setting. In the living room I've used it on the high setting and it also works pretty quickly. I use this unit when I am the only one who is cold and don't want to use the central heat. I really like the option to use 360/ front function and the thermostat capability. As per the directions, you turn on the unit with the thermostat on full heat and when the temperature is as hot as you want you slowly turn it down until the unit clicks off. Then it will automatically shut on and off to keep that temperature. My only complaint, which is why I didn't rate the unit 5 stars, is that it is too noisy for me. I mostly wanted this unit for nighttime use and when the unit clicks on and off it wakes me up.

2 out of 5 stars weak heater   February 26, 2006

With the door closed in a small area (bedroom), the unit struggled to produce any measurable benefit. The unit was heating air, but heat was rising straight up from the unit. After a cold night we returned it and purchased an electric blanket and a quartz heater which we love.

On the plus side, this unit is overbuilt for safety. The elements are encased in a mesh grill, and the unit will turn off if tipped over. Unfortunately, it just doesn't produce as much heat as I wanted.

I plugged this in yesterday for the first time. It seems very safe. The ON nob has a childproof turn system. At the hottest temperatures I can still pick the heater up by the metal grate. Most impressive is how fast it heats up. As soon as it turned on I felt a lot of heat, as if it arrives from the factory with hot air waiting to blow out upon first use. It has a little bit of the "heater odor", like when you turn the heat in the car way up. It heat my room up really fast, but it's a small-medium sized room. I looked around a lot for heaters and read a lot of reviews. This one worked out perfectly for me; I am very happy with my choice.

I have a 2 bedroom apartment outside of Boston. When the temperature outside drops below 20 degrees or so, the interior temp. struggles to remain above 60 degrees or so. I have deployed three of these great heaters in my apartment and the temp. now can get well above 65 when it is really cold outside.

A+ machine, sleek design, definetly not ugly and will get the job done.
