DeWalt designed this replacement for their popular DW359 circular saw to be the lightest and most powerful saw available. The result is a professional-quality tool that weighs 9-1/2 pounds and uses a big 15 amp motor to deliver a maximum of 2,200 watts--just about 3 horsepower. That's a technical way of saying this saw can deliver the power necessary to take on the toughest work on any construction site. The saw's magnesium base plate and guard are part of the key to the low weight. It has a slimmed-down handle, which we found more comfortable than the one on the old model, and a slimmed-down body, which allows for better cut-line visibility. When redesigning the saw, DeWalt also swapped the previous model's 15 amp switch with a 22 amp switch to make burnout at startup less likely. We really like the big 56-degree-maximum bevel capacity, and found that both bevel and depth adjustments were quick, tool-free operations. The one drawback we found with this saw is that if the base gets knocked out of whack, there is no way to recalibrate the bevel or depth gauges. Nonetheless, if what you want is powerful performance and light weight, we think this is a great choice. -- Brian Trinen

Delivery was as usual fast even though I always opt for the Super Saver deal. The saw was in perfect condition, so much so that you could not tell the difference between this recon and a new saw.As always I am well pleased with Amazon service.

This is my first electric saw of any kind and I am just a general hobbyist (I wanted to put some shelves up and didn't fancy sawing them to the right length by hand) and I didn't want a cheap tool ( I hate owning anything low quality) and didn't want to spend excessively to get it. This refurb unit perfectly matches my needs - I had never seen one before and was amazed at how well put together the thing is. It's obviously designed for Pro's as you can even change out the bushes in the electric motor (which the manual said will wear out eventually, and I think is the only bit apart from the blade that will). It reeks of quality and was amazingly powerful (and loud - had to wear ear defenders.) Awesome piece of kit, way more than I needed for my shelves and made very short work of them! Still it's there for the next time, now. :-)
It is perfect, too - only had a couple of dirt marks on it (that wiped off); you wouldn't know it wasn't brand new so I feel I really got a hell of a saw for a great price. Why buy a new one? I'll do this again...

What's not to like? Plenty of power, fast cutting, easy to adjust. Built two decks yesterday and the lumber was still very wet due to the salt treatment. The saw didn't care.
