Amazon.com We can't think of anything we'd want to add to this little hummer. It's incredible what B&D has engineered into this system (we don't think it's fair to call it a "screwdriver"). Dual speed range lets you drill holes at high speed and drive screws at the slower speed. A 23-position clutch, just like what's on the big boys, will keep you from stripping your screws. But get this: Unlike conventional cordless screwdrivers and regular power drills, this tool's handle easily locks in three positions for tight areas and awkward spots. Genius! And just like the "real" drills, this one's got an accessible forward/reverse rocker switch for backing screws out, too. Here's something, though, that the big-boy drill makers should pick up: It's got on integrated light so you can always see your work surface clearly. For the money, we haven't seen anything like it. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Form plus function: Works as good as it looks April 16, 2005 Kevin Woodward (Soquel, CA United States) 75 out of 77 found this review helpful
The benefits of cordless power tools are obvious, but who says you need to pay hundreds of dollars to get the job done if you live in an apartment and don't have a contractor's license? For $25, this is a super addition to any toolbox -- or kitchen cabinet. This is a great gift idea for dad -- or mom, for that matter. Here's why: * Quick-release collar allows you to pop in a screw or drill bit in a flash. A nice, tight grip. * Multiple forward or reverse speeds at the click of a button. Torque control on the collar is easy to adjust and visual icons make it easy to figure out which one is best depending on whether you're using a screw or drill bit. Sweet. * From 3-6 hours of operation on a single charge. Because it can take about six hours to re-charge, it's a good idea to leave this plugged into an outlet in the kitchen, bathroom or garage (but not longer than 3-4 weeks without use to avoid reduction in battery life). * Ability to pivot the position of the handle or angle is big plus and great way to avoid carpel tunnel pain. * The LED light, built-in removable tape measure and bit holder on the handle are fluff, but add to the coolness factor. * Surprisingly light weight for it's rather large size. So far no complaints. Price, form and function add up to a solid 5-star rating. You simply can't go wrong here.
WOW! December 24, 2003 Ashley Ellis (Ft Lauderdale, FL United States) 58 out of 62 found this review helpful
I have one of these power screwdrivers and it is a lifesaver! It cuts down on installion time by quite a lot. My fiance put together two new bookshelves for me with this screwdriver in FAR less time than it normally takes him with a regular screwdriver!Besides being a great screwdriver, it also can act as a drill (if you get the right bits). Since it has two speeds, you can drill holes at a quick speed, then use the slower speed when you're using the screwdriver part. It also has a handy tape measure inside for quick, last minute measuring. Another great benefit is that it locks in to three different positions - so if you need to get to something at an awkward angle, it makes it a LOT easier! It also has a handy light on it, so if you are screwing something in a dark part of a room, you can see better what you're doing. I'm very impressed with this tool - I highly recommend purchasing it! You will not be disappointed!
Not a drill December 16, 2003 23 out of 30 found this review helpful
The tip of this drill doesn't have the tightening mechanism that a conventional drill has. You would have to buy drill bits that have a Hex base, which is available from Black & Decker.Hex bits are loosely secured once on the tip, since there's no tightening mechanism. The battery is secured to the base by a screw. Not integrated with a battery system, no release button. Tape is removable, so don't lose it. Otherwise adjustable torque, forward/back button is good.
Great little screwdriver January 5, 2004 AE&KD Salo (Champlin, MN USA) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
Purchased this as a Christmas present for my wife and have been installing blinds ever since. While it's not intended to take the place of an 18 volt drill, it does a great job screwing and unscrewing. The forward, reverse rocker switch is more convient than others that we have used and the angles are handy. I would not recommend it as a replacement for the DeWalt heavy duty cordless screwdriver (my favorite), but it's lighter and 1/3 the price. Well worth the money....
It works... it ain't great but it works. December 2, 2005 G. Hanna (San Antonio, TX United States) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
My fiance got this screwdriver for me because I was complaining about not having an electric one. When I first got it I thought why the heck did she get this for me, it is under powered, big, bulky, and the rechargeable battery isn't replaceable. After getting it I kept wanting to get another electric screwdriver with a removable battery. Then I used the thing. It actually does a nice job. Is it the most powerful thing - NO, is it big - yes. I was able to do everything I wanted to do with an electric screwdriver. The little LED light, while not all that bright is helpful at times and it is nice to have the tape measure in the handle. I think one of the biggest drawbacks of this item is that it is pretty hard to find drill bits for it, at lease cheap ones because it has the quick connect/disconnect collar. If you just need to do some light work around the house or apartment I'd recommend this driver, but if you are trying to build something from scratch - look elsewhere.
